Today marks the 48th anniversary of the most somber day in Schaumburg Fire Department history.

On this day in 1977, Firefighter Anthony Gallo lost his life in the line of duty. While responding to a call, Ladder Company 1 swerved to avoid a vehicle that had spun out on ice, causing the apparatus to flip and roll down an embankment near Higgins Road and Meacham Road. Firefighter Gallo suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Local 4092 and the Schaumburg Fire Department will always honor the memory and service of Firefighter Anthony Gallo. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Gallo family.

Yesterday, members of L4092, with the support of the Schaumburg Fire Department, delivered presents to Schaumburg Township that will support more than ten local families in need this holiday season.

In addition, a check for $5,000 was presented to Schaumburg Township to assist in their efforts to help those throughout our community. This contribution was made possible through funds raised at the Schaumburg Firefighter's Annual Softball Tournament.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to help make a difference this holiday season!

This morning, members of L4092 and their families came together to do Christmas shopping at Target for ten local families in need. Taking time to serve our community while being with our own families made the morning even more meaningful.

After the shopping was finished, everyone returned to Station 51 to enjoy a Christmas breakfast and a visit from Santa. We’re grateful for the chance to support our community and share the holiday spirit with those around us.
