Last Fall, I completed an amazing continuing education course on bottle refusal. I am proud to now offer bottle refusal consults for families in the Capital Region and beyond! If you find your baby struggling to feed from anything other than your breast or “refusing” to feed from a bottle, there is hope! Reach out to schedule an in-home, office, or virtual consult. 🫶🏼

We are approaching the “any day now!” phase of pregnancy as we wait for the arrival our third child 👶🏼! I am looking forward to slowing down and focusing on my own lactation journey!

I will be taking some time off beginning December 15th. If you have any needs that come up between 12/15 and 2/15, my dear friends and colleagues at and have graciously agreed to step in to support you! If you would like any files transferred to either of them, please reach out via email 💛

I have some exciting new tools in my tool belt that I’ve been working on this Fall, I am excited to share those with you when I return! 🍼🤱

Did you know we treat babies?
Oral motor dysfunction can be present at birth. Symptoms include: difficulty nursing, bottle refusals, open mouth posture, snoring, lip blisters, milk tongue, reflux, drool.

Chat Speech SLPs have advanced training and experience with infant feeding. During the evaluation, we assess symptoms and function to identify your baby’s underlying cause(s) of feeding difficulties. Our comprehensive evaluation includes a structural oral exam, functional feeding assessment, oral reflex exam, and non-nutritive muscular assessment.

If treatment is indicated, we use evidence-based techniques including neuromuscular re-education and oral sensory-motor therapy to re-pattern the feeding and swallowing mechanisms that may be impeding optimal feeding. We build strong oral function from the start

Just a few days after the birth of our second baby, it was clear that someone was off. I successfully breastfed my first, and I walked into my second rodeo NOT anticipating that I’d almost give up. By day 3, my daughter was coming off the breast with blood all over her face and I was in TERRIBLE pain. A lactation consultant came to our home and spent so many hours working with us, encouraging us, and pointing us in the right directions. Between our pediatric dentist, lactation consultant, and our chiropractor, we got our girl nursing without pain and blood 😅 It was amazing to watch all 3 of our care providers work collaboratively to help support my family. I truly would not have pressed on without them! As we wait the arrival of our 3rd baby, my mindset is so different. Now I know how many incredible care providers we have in our area who will be willing and ready to step in when we need support again. So thankful to be a part of this community both as a mother and as a lactation counselor. It is a joy to be able to support families like Sarah supported me!

This class is for second time moms who would like to give breastfeeding another shot! Whether you had trouble meeting your breastfeeding goals the first (or second) time around, or just want to set new goals and move forward into your next feeding journey more support, this is the class for you. Open to moms who want to exclusively breastfeed, combo feed, or moms who aren’t sure yet!

Saturday, November 15th from 10-12pm at the Upstate Lactation Collective.
