If we eat the right foods as we recover, could soothe excessive inflammation and potentially facilitate natural healing. Proper hydration, essential nutrients, mobility, strength and functional rehabilitation are pillars of hastened recovery process in a joint or muscle injury.

Physical strength and mental strength have a high correlation. Evidence and research has shown that Physical activity helps not only with sleep, it also helps improve mood and improved quality of life. Physical exercise and yoga may help in the management of cravings for substances, especially in people who may not have access to other forms of therapy. Evidence also suggests that increased physical activity can help attenuate some psychotic symptoms and treat medical comorbidities that accompany psychotic disorders....

SPRING INTO ACTION

Spring is in the air, meaning more than just blooming flowers and chirping birds. It's a natural nudge to shake off the winter blues and be more active. Across various countries and populations, people are most active in the summer and less active in the winter.

Here are giving you a few fun ideas to try

EMBRACE THE GREAT OUTDOORS:
Trade the treadmill for the trail: As the weather warms, escape the gym and head outside. Explore nature with hikes, bike rides, or even a walk or jog around the park. Soaking up the sunshine not only boosts your vitamin D levels but also enhances your mood and motivation.
Turn your park into your playground:
Public parks offer many fitness opportunities. Utilize the equipment for bodyweight exercises, join a pick-up game of basketball, play a round of disc golf, or find an outdoor fitness class.
INCORPORATE SEASONAL ACTIVITIES:
Get active with Seasonal sports: Participating in spring sports leagues like volleyball, softball, pickleball, or tennis is a fun and social way to get moving. You'll meet new people while engaging in friendly competition and getting some exercise.

Cultivate your green thumb: Gardening is a surprisingly active hobby. Digging, planting, and tending to your garden provides a full-body workout while connecting you with nature.
NAVIGATING THE CHANGES
Spring clean your activity plan: Just like your home, your exercise routine might need a spring cleaning. Evaluate your current program, identify areas for improvement, and think about what new exercises or activities you'd like to add. Don't spring forward too fast: Spring is an exciting time with longer days, better weather, and new opportunities. Don't take on too much too fast. Injuries from overuse and overtraining become more common in our clinics when people ramp activity up too fast.
Celebrate your progress: Track your progress and acknowledge your achievements, no matter how small. This will keep you motivated and focused on your goals.
Spring is a season of growth. Let it be the catalyst for your own personal transformation. By embracing the outdoors, incorporating seasonal activities, and refreshing your routine, you can spring into action and experience the joy of a healthier and happier you.

In the state of Indiana, patients have direct access to Physical Therapy.
You PT is a "movement specialist". In other words, they should be able to help you regain a movement that you have lost. That movement can only be regained by practicing the movement/the painful activity. It may hurt sometimes in the process of regaining the movement. Your therapist will help you break it in parts or have you practice the lost movement as a whole. They will also help you with pain control. So, give your PT a shot.

Restoring holiday cheer one stretch at a time! Wishing you joy, health, and flexibility during this festive season! 🎄💪
These exercises may not improve your endurance or strength, but being flexible gives you more freedom of movement for your everyday activities, most importantly for your activities of daily living, so do not forget to devote 5 minutes to basic stretching exercises before you start your day

Planter fasciitis commonly known as heel pain.
Plantar fasciitis
• is one of the most common causes of heel pain.
• has been estimated to affect about two million people in the US,
• affects both sedentary and athletic people, is thought to result from chronic overload either from lifestyle or exercise.
• results from repetitive stress to the plantar fascia at its origin on the medial tubercle of the calcaneus
• is often associated with gastrocnemius/calf tightness.
• most common symptom is aching heel pain, worst with first step in the morning or after periods of rest.
• Diagnosis is confirmed with point tenderness at the origin of the plantar fascia on the medial tubercle of the calcaneus (inner aspect of heel)
• reduced ankle dorsiflexion (ability to contract the muscles of shin and increase the forward bend at the ankle and bring toes towards your nose) appears to be the most significant risk factor and calf muscle tightness as the most common cause of limited dorsiflexion ROM.
• A tight gastroc-soleus complex can cause increased pronation or inward collapse of foot, in midstance (when foot is weight bearing) as well as early heel-off in gait, which leads to increased knee extension and increased stress through the forefoot and plantar fascia, and prolonged stress could increase stress on your planter fascia.
• A tight gastroc-soleus can be both a cause and an effect of plantar fasciitis. Studies show that patients with chronic plantar fasciopathy often walk with a slower cadence, shorter stride length. These antalgic gait changes can lead to further muscle imbalance, resulting in loss of strength and flexibility, thus highlighting the importance of continuing with flexibility exercises in conjunction with other treatment modalities.

• Body mass index (BMI) is strongly associated with plantar fasciitis; those with a BMI of 30 or more (1.48 percent) were 5 times more likely to have plantar fasciitis than those with a BMI less than 25 (0.29 percent).

How our therapists can help you: They are skilled in Manual Therapy, pain control using Laser, low level currents, dry needling, instrument assisted mobilization techniques, Manual Therapy and exercises, and gait assessment skills. They will assess your lower quadrant and design your exercise program unique for your needs.
This process of bringing a change in your pain and movement patterns requires time and patience, between 4 weeks to 12 weeks, depending on severity of your symptoms.
