When considering cremation in Schuylkill Haven, Pa, today's families are concerned with many complex issues: how cremation affects the environment (especially when compared to traditional burial), personal finances and faith being amongst the top three. And of course, if you have concerns or additional questions, we ask that you connect with us by calling (570) 385-3381. We will be pleased to take part in your cremation conversation. Certainly this is a big decision, based on any number of factors: religious or spiritual beliefs, finances, or ecological awareness are just some of the reasons we've heard for choosing cremation. Before you can make the choice, you need to know exactly what it is you're considering. You can learn the basics below, however, if the content here raises additional questions for you, please give us a call. One of our cremation specialists will address any of your inquiries or concerns. Everyone has his or her own personal reasons for choosing a cremation funeral over traditional casketed burial in Schuylkill Haven. In the last few years, more and more North American families have been making this choice and there are multiple reasons why this trend has developed. The simplicity and affordability of cremation in comparison to burial packages and other funeral services is certainly a large contributing factor. At our Schuylkill Haven and Cressona funeral homes, we want you to know that no matter your reasons for choosing cremation, we're here to help you explore your options. When you're ready to talk about cremation, Contact Us to set an appointment or simply drop by our office. Our family continues a tradition of personal care by investing back into the community. We are proud to offer a state-of-the-art crematory & cremation facility located at our funeral home in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania. Even though all funeral homes advertise cremation services throughout Schuylkill County, most people are surprised to learn that the cremation process itself is subcontracted to third parties. This will not happen when you call us in your time of need. We offer exceptional support through the entire cremation process. In order to ensure the highest level of service, we have developed an easy-to-follow 10-Step Identification, Security and Control Cremation Process. We believe this process will provide your entire family peace of mind. Our On-site crematory services Schuylkill and Berks Counties and all other surrounding communities. Please contact us with any questions, or to arrange a personal tour. A funeral service in Schuylkill County, whether traditional or more modern (memorial service or celebration-of-life), has two functions: to acknowledge the death and lifetime achievements of an individual and to bring grieving family members and friends together in support of one another during this difficult time. One of our main missions is giving your loved one a final tribute they deserve. Contrary to common belief, funeral services are not all the same. They can take on many different formats and styles. We can plan and execute funeral ceremonies that follow very traditional practices to those that take on less formal, more unique styles. We work with you to create the funeral service that best honors your loved one’s life, allows the best way for you to say goodbye, meets your family's specific wishes, and fits within your financial budget. We have years of experience in this industry, and we take pride in offering families quality and affordable funeral services in Schuylkill Haven & Cressona, PA. We hope to help as many families in need as we can as their Pennsylvania funeral service provider, and we promise to help each and every family member heal as they embark on their journey with grief. On this page, we have provided a breakdown of the traditional funeral process included in the services we offer as well as a brief history and overview of what a funeral is. If you have any questions about our funeral services, please feel free to contact us. Components of a Traditional Funeral Service

1. Visitation

This is often called a viewing or a wake. Guests come to pay their respects to the deceased by viewing their body and spending time with the grieving family. A visitation can occur at any time before the funeral service.

2. Funeral Service

This event commonly takes place at the funeral home, a church, or at the graveside. It can include music, the reading of literary or religious passages, a eulogy, prayer, and the singing of hymns.

3. Committal Service

If the family plans to bury the deceased, this stage involves the vehicle procession to the cemetery.

4. Funeral Reception

Many choose to host this post-service gathering (or repast) at a reception hall. This is considered a time to share memories, laughter, and support. The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires. Pre-arranging your own service will help to ease the burden of your loved ones. It will also alleviate any questions, problems or differences, which can occur among family members. Pre-payment will protect you from the rising cost of prices, and it will not be a financial burden on your loved ones. When you plan ahead you know that your wishes will be fulfilled. Arrangements can be made in the comfort of your own home by clicking the button below. Fill in as much as you are comfortable with and we'd be pleased to meet with you to discuss further. If you have questions, feel free to contact us at your convenience.

Felicia Ann Moyer

Felicia Ann Moyer, 24, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, March 10th, after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Born in Pottsville on September 8, 2001, she was a daughter of Jeffrey Moyer and Karen (Symons) Moyer, of Lost Creek.

She was engaged to Justin Fetterolf, of Auburn.

She was currently employed as an inspector by Guilford Mills.

Felicia will be remembered as a beautiful soul. Felicia's smile brightened any room she walked into. Her determination got her anything her heart desired. Her love, kind and caring soul flowed around all that was close to her. Felicia was a spitfire of a soul that was taken from us too soon. Even from an early point in her life, she enjoyed walks in the mountains, to riding on the back of her parents’ motorcycle. She loved to be outdoors and enjoying life to the fullest. She had two puppies named Tucker, and Bailey, that were cherished as her own children. Next to her fur babies, the most important person in her life was Justin. She loved him unconditionally; they saved each other emotionally and started a beautiful life together. Her journey was far from over, so let's continue living it for her. Felicia is also survived by her sister, Tashia Moyer Graff; niece, Emberlyn Rose; aunts & uncles: Debbie Bailey, Gary Bailey, Jennifer & Tom DeLong, Diane Wolfgang Moyer and Tammy McCorkle Moyer, Kevin, & Lynnwood Fessler; cousins: Jeremy Stitler, Brayden, & Jason Fessler, Robert, Jason, & Josh Harrig, David Wolfgang, Samantha Kuperna Wolfgang, Ashley McCorkle, Tanya Moyer, & Jamie Nabholz.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Ruben & Bernita Moyer; maternal grandmother: Nancy Symons and her companion CJ Adams; uncle, David "Hap" Moyer.

A Celebration of Felicia’s Life will be held Saturday, March 21st from 3-5 PM at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven.

The family requests donations to Go Fund Me https://gofund.me/0a9b501c1.

Mary J. Zimmerman

Mary Jean Zimmerman

June 14, 1949 – March 11, 2026

Mary didn’t wait for life to come to her. She went to find it.

Born in Pottsville on a summer’s day in 1949–a twin!–Mary grew up as one of four in the Schuylkill Haven many remember, the kind of place where family lived down the street from family, where neighbors let themselves in through the back door without a knock, and where a dining room table could anchor an entire block.

She was a daughter of Ray and Bessie (McGoey) Zimmerman, a graduate of Nativity BVM High School, Class of 1967, and for a time, she worked the floor of the Edison lamp factory alongside the people she’d known her whole life.

But Mary watched her big sister. And when she saw where Joanne pointed, she decided to follow an out-of-town life. She chose Washington, D.C.

It was a bold choice for a young woman from the coal region, and it suited her. Mary built a career with the National Labor Relations Board (though her relatives were impressed simply knowing she worked, as they all called it, “for the government”) spending decades in the D.C. suburbs of Alexandria, becoming the next new version of herself. Anyone who knew her knows Mary lived life entirely on her own terms, an independent woman before it was easy to be one.

For her nieces and nephew, a visit to Aunt Mary was nothing short of an adventure. There was the long travel, the anticipation building with every mile. There were the tourist tours of the Capital–monuments, museums and gift shop paperweights. But what they remember most vividly is the magic of life in a high-rise apartment: the elevator ride up, the city lights spread out below like a map, the latest 17 Magazine bought just for them, Jiffy Pop begging to be shaken over the big burner and the long carpeted hallways, obviously architected for one thing only: relay races. Mary let them.

She was the fun aunt. The one the kids jostled for a seat next to at Thanksgiving. The one who arrived with cool makeup they had seen on tv commercials and an unbelievable pink suitcase that seemed to contain a whole other world. She was most at home at Pop’s table, the nucleus of the neighborhood: Yuengling always cold, the back door always unlocked, conversation always loud, overlapping and loving. Mary loved it here.

There was also The American Legion, where her twin brother Jerry held court with the ease of a man beloved by his community. His light shone bright on her when she visited, and she basked in it. She was an honorary Legionnaire in spirit, if not in paperwork.

Eventually, after decades away, Mary retired and came home to Schuylkill Haven. It was a quieter chapter. She had seen the world she wanted to see, built the life she had chosen to build. Coming home meant returning to her center of gravity: her family.

Her final chapter brought her to Lancaster, after a prolonged battle with kidney disease required more attentive care. She passed quietly on March 11th at Oak Leaf Manor in Landisville, surrounded by new friends. What she looked forward to most was the company of daily visits from her sister, brother and sister-in-law in her final weeks.

Mary is survived by her sister, Joanne Gusso, wife of Phil; her brother Dennis Zimmerman, husband of Judy; by nieces Beth Baird (Jon), Debbie Ruhl (Jeff), Tracy Thompson (Steve), Megan Roth (Jesse) and nephew Kyle Zimmerman; and by the wider constellation of family she spent a lifetime belonging to. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved twin, Jerry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 11th at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, with visitation from 9:15 to 10:15 AM in the church chapel. Interment will follow at Saint Ambrose Cemetery.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we are proud to stand as a woman-owned and operated funeral home serving our community with heart and professional excellence.

For a long time, the funeral profession was seen as a male-dominated field, but that is changing. We are proud to be part of a growing wave of women choosing this path, bringing a unique perspective rooted in empathy, meticulous attention to detail, and a naturally nurturing approach to grief support.

As more women step into leadership roles within funeral service, we are honored to represent that shift and provide the compassionate, dedicated care our families deserve.

03/07/2026

At our new Haus Bartashus Funeral Home & Crematory location in New Philadelphia, we were privileged to serve the family of Thomas Davis this week. A highlight of the service was the beautiful tribute performed by the Schuylkill Valley Joint Veterans prior to the procession. Our thanks to the Veterans for their dedicated service to a fellow hero!
