This is one of my favorite content creators. There is stuff here that’s on point and some that’s not quite. No nit policies have largely gone the way of the dodo…most districts allow children to come to school with active lice. This is based on the AAP and CDC recommendations, which I mostly agree with. Although I do believe that the assertion that lice does not spread in school isn’t entirely true. I believe that in the “little” grades like pre-k, k, 1st and even 2nd grade there is more potential for spread in the classroom. But I’m not arguing with their desire not to keep kids out of school. As a substitute teacher I had a front row seat to the result of keeping kids out of school. But if you’re sending your child into school with lice, put their hair back and educate them about avoiding close contact with friends and classmates. The social consequences of chronic lice can be devastating for children.

The thing that really hits home is the overwhelmed mom. I see it so often and it’s heartbreaking that more people don’t reach out for help until they’re exasperated and beaten down by lice. Ever hear someone say you should slather your head in mayo/oil and wrap it in plastic and sleep with it to get rid of lice? Yeah. I've heard that too and I can't discourage it enough. Here's why:

This still holds true! Allergy kids on antihistamines won't show signs of itching early on. Regular head checks help a lot, especially during allergy season!
