Knee pain? Balance is better! I read a recent study that stated 63% of people with leg length inequality require knee surgery as a result of long term degenerative joint disease.

The majority of patients that I have seen in my 38 years have one leg functionally shorter than the other. That means it’s acquired over time from prior injury or just daily habits. Most people have no idea that they’re struggling with this issue. Even with that said, less than 20% of my patients have needed knee surgery.

As our weather gets better, don’t limit your quality of life with the problems that are associated with an imbalance of your legs.

Balance is better. Call me at 518-382-0055 if you or someone you care about would like to see if you/they have a leg length issue.

Good Morning! It’s the day after Memorial Day! How did your body handle it? Most people have no realization that one of their legs are functionally shorter than the other.

Gravity is relentless and Balance is Always Better!

By the way, this patient had no idea that their left leg was shorter. Their legs did balance after their chiropractic adjustment. They actually felt weird when balance was restored. That’s a good indicator that their legs haven’t been equal length for quite a while.

The office is open but we are adapting to the challenge of Co-Vid and keeping everyone as safe as possible. Please call first for an appointment. The number is 518-382-0055.

Be well!

Some interesting history relating to Chiropractic care offering significant hope to a similar Flu Pandemic.

During this healthcare crisis, our office remains open and here is why...

Many people may not be aware that there was a Flu Pandemic in 1917-1918. Estimates go as high as 500,000 Americans died during that Pandemic. People were as fearful then, as many people are right now. Granted, our options are much more advanced now, vs 1917-1918, but even to this day, certain threats to our health remain beyond our capacity to readily answer.

According to historical reports provided by Dr. Dan Murphy and others, there were reports from cities all over the country that were reflecting dramatic results from chiropractic care. This gave many, a cause for hope in the crisis.

For example, in Davenport, Iowa, 50 medical doctors cared for 4,953 patients with the Flu resulting in 274 deaths- a loss of 1 out of every 15 patients.

In the same state, excluding Davenport, 4,735 patients were cared for by chiropractors with a loss of 6 patients- a loss of 1 out of every 789 patients.

During the same epidemic, reports show that chiropractors in Oklahoma cared for 3,490 patients with influenza with 7 deaths.

In addition to these amazing results, there is a clear record showing that chiropractors were called to care for 233 patients where medical doctors had given them up for lost. Of those 233 patients who were considered too far gone, 25 lost their lives but 208 survived.

On a national level, figures showed that 1,142 chiropractors cared for 46,394 patients for influenza during 1918 with a loss of 54 patients- 1 out of every 886.

We are following the recommended protocols for keeping my office as sanitary as possible. This includes: cleaning the table and surrounding area with Clorox wipes before every patient. We have moved the face paper a safe distance form the table. We wash our hands or use sanitizer between every patient.

What to do if you have symptoms:
We do require that if you find you may have been exposed or have symptoms, please call us be fore you come to the office. Our office is not equipped to serve people with this disease.

We are specifically equipped to do our part in attaining your optimal health. That’s always been important but recent changes have amplified the value of reaching your optimal health!

Please call us if you have any questions!
518-382-0055.

Be well.

Some helpful information!

Just like you, we have families we care about and want to keep safe. When something like the coronavirus hits the news, it can make us worry about everyday decisions.

One of the most important things we can do is continue with our normal lives, doing the things we enjoy and need to stay healthy, while taking reasonable precautions. Living our lives keeps us healthy and happy, and teaches our kids good behaviors.

The person best equipped to take care of you is you, but we’ve got your back (pun intended). We clean our offices every night, and antiseptic wipes are used on every surface between patient visits. Even before the Coronavirus, we made it a point to wash our hands all the time. And we ask anyone coming to our offices to stay home if they’re not feeling well.

Here are some tips to help you and your family feel safe and ready to face the world.

In General
Wash, wash, wash your hands. Did you know soap and water are more effective than hand sanitizer (and apparently easier to find right now)? To really get rid of any germs, wash for at least 20 seconds – which just happens to be how long it takes to hum Row-Row-Row Your Boat three times.

Be sneeze- and cough-courteous. Coughing or sneezing into the inner crook of your arm catches the droplets that would otherwise end up in the air or on the surfaces around you. The COVID-19 virus is transmitted through droplets, not through breathing, so this is important.

Save the mask for Halloween. The benefit of a mask is that it controls the outbound expression of germs when someone coughs or sneezes. If you’re healthy, a mask won’t be very effective in preventing the spread of germs. If you’re sick and need to be out in the world, a mask can help protect those around you from the germs you send out when you cough or sneeze.

Don’t touch your face! The easiest way to get sick (with any kind of virus) is to introduce germs from your hands to mucus membranes – like your eyes, nose and mouth.

Netflix and chill. If you’re not feeling well (whether it’s coronavirus or an old-school cold) please stay home, cuddle with your dog and catch up on your favorite show.

Out in the World
Wipe it out. Many of us do this anyway, but grab one of those wet wipes at the grocery store entrance to clean the cart (buggy for you southerners) handle.

Declutter! A clean desk or counter makes it easier to run a cleaning cloth across.

Personal space. Keep at least 3 feet between you and someone who is sneezing or coughing.

Sharing = caring? Not right now! We’re usually all about sharing, but for now the kindest thing you can do is avoid sharing food, drinks, even lotion or sanitizers – and the germs that ride with them.

Breathe in, breathe out. Ventilation is a good thing. Weather and location permitting, crack a window.

Taking Care of Yourself
Be on your best behavior. Keep yourself in good shape by getting plenty of sleep, being physically active, drinking lots of water and eating nutritious foods. A stressed body is a weak body, so manage your stress through exercise, meditation or conversation with a trusted friend.

Self-care matters. Caring for yourself is the best thing you can do for your overall health.

We are praying for health and optimal wellness for you and your family.

Be well.
