From a small office above the subway on Mohawk Ave. in 1950… to the expanded, state-of-the-art practice we are today at 34 Vley Road… our story has always been about people.

Dr. Samuel Coppola believed that dentistry was more than fixing teeth—it was about relationships, trust, and caring for neighbors like family. He built a reputation of excellence and compassion that still lives on through his son, Dr. David Coppola, and the entire team.

For over 70 years, generations of families have walked through our doors. We’ve celebrated milestones together, cared for children who grew up to bring in their own children, and remained a steady part of this community’s story.

Every expansion of our office—from 1972, to 2014, to 2024—has been done with one goal in mind: to give our patients the very best care while keeping that small-town feel. 💙💚

Today, we’re proud to carry forward a legacy that began right here in Scotia, and we’re honored to be trusted with your family’s smiles.

👉 Now we’d love to hear from you—when did you or your family first join our practice? Share your memories in the comments below—we can’t wait to read them!

There’s something special about watching a child hop up into the same dental chair their parent once sat in as a child.

It’s a reminder that this office isn’t just a place where teeth get cleaned.
It’s a place where memories are made.
Where Dr. Sam Coppola once treated grandparents…
…and now, Dr. David Coppola is caring for their grandchildren.

For over 70 years, this office has been here—quietly serving generations of families right here in Scotia.

👨‍⚕️ Dr. Sam believed in one simple truth:

“Treat people like family, and they’ll come back for generations.”

We think he was right.

💬 Have you—or your kids—sat in this chair across generations?
We’d love to hear your story.

Teenagers are at high risk for gum issues. Here’s how to help them stay ahead.

Gum inflammation in teens is more common than you think — especially with:
😬 Ortho appliances (braces = trap for plaque)
🥤 Sugary sports drinks
🧵 Skipped flossing routines

Here are 3 ways to protect their gums now:
1. Switch to an electric toothbrush — easier and more effective
2. Use floss picks or water flossers if string floss is a battle
3. Encourage them to drink more water, less juice/soda

Let us help reinforce the message! Our hygiene team is great at teaching teens — without nagging

Gum disease can start before adulthood. Here’s what every parent should know.

Even baby teeth need healthy gums.

We often think of gum disease as an adult problem—but the truth is, children and teens are also at risk for inflammation, bleeding, and early signs of periodontal issues.

Here’s why:
🔹 Kids may skip flossing or rush through brushing
🔹 Teens with braces are more prone to plaque buildup
🔹 High-sugar diets (juice, sports drinks, sticky snacks) can fuel bacteria
🔹 Hormonal changes during puberty can make gums more reactive

At Dr. Coppola’s Office, we tailor our preventive care to your child’s stage of development:
🦷 We track gum health starting at age 3
🦷 Teach age-appropriate brushing and flossing techniques
🦷 Recommend mouthguards to protect growing smiles during sports
🦷 Monitor spacing and eruption patterns that may impact hygiene

And we do it all in a way that feels safe, comfortable, and even fun.

✅ Early habits = lifelong healthy gums.

📞 Call us today at (518) 370-5038 to schedule your child’s next visit. We’d love to care for your family — from the first tooth on.

70% of adults have gum disease and most don’t even know it. Here’s why it matters for your heart.

Your gums aren’t just about your smile — they’re a window to your overall health.

🦷 Studies show that gum disease and heart disease are closely connected.
Bacteria from inflamed gums can enter your bloodstream, increasing your risk of heart complications — even if you don’t have any tooth pain.

📊 What the research tells us:
• 70% of adults have gum disease
• 50% of people with gum disease also have heart disease
• 80% of people with gum disease don’t know they have it

At Dr. Coppola’s Office, we take a preventive, whole-body approach to dental care — because your health starts with your mouth.

📞 Call us at (518) 370-5038 to schedule your next checkup.
Let’s keep your smile — and your heart — healthy.

"2, 3, 4, 3…” If you’ve heard this during a cleaning, this post is for you.

Those numbers your hygienist calls out? They’re measuring your periodontal pockets and they’re a critical part of preventing gum disease.

Healthy gums have shallow pockets (1–3 mm). Deeper pockets can mean inflammation, infection, or even bone loss. We chart these numbers regularly to catch problems early and treat gently—before it becomes more serious.

💬 Got questions about your latest charting? Call us, we’ll be happy to explain!
