Hard to believe it is almost the end of the year!! That said, it's time to think about what you'd like done with your child's medications that are at school.

All medications, EpiPens, inhalers, etc... will need to be picked up by a parent or guardian in the school offices unless you contact the school and make other arrangements.
All medications that are left, not claimed, or those in which other arrangements have not been made by June 1 will be disposed of. Some arrangements options include: permission to send meds home with students, permission to have meds picked up by another individual, or hold meds until next school (as long as they are not/will not expire before then) with the understanding that new administration permission forms will still have to be completed for the next year.
I understand the expense of many of these medications and will work with you to make every effort to ensure arrangements are made before disposal.

Thank you for your help! Have a GREAT summer!!

Did you know that all nursing and teaching staff, paras, bus drivers, coaches and administrators in USD 466 are certified in CPR? ❤️We sure are!
We have several certified CPR instructors on staff to make that happen and a priority!(Shout out to Shelley Harvey as well for helping us get that done!)Edit: Also have to thank the Scott Community Foundation for their support!!

We have also added additional AEDs to locations across the district to ensure quick access to those devices.

I am proud of the efforts our district has made to help ensure quick response to any choking or cardiac events that may occur with our students or visitors to our schools and events!👏🏼👏🏼

Only 1 in 10 people suffering cardiac arrest survive without CPR.

Flu season is upon us!!! (as well as Norovirus, Strep, RSV, and Covid)

It's crucial to prioritize our children's health and the well-being of everyone in our school and community!!!

Here are some key guidelines to help you decide when to keep your child home:

🦠 **Fever:** If your child has a fever of 100.0°F or more, keep them home for at least 24 hours after the fever has subsided without medication.

🤢 **Vomiting/Diarrhea:** If they've vomited, have had diarrhea, or severe abdominal pain in the last 24 hours, let them rest at home to recover. They must have no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours without medication to stop it.

😖 **Headaches:** A persistent headache that disrupts their daily activities is a sign that they should stay home and recuperate.

🔍 **Rashes/Lesions:** Any unknown rash or open skin lesions could be contagious; consult a healthcare professional before sending them back to school.

👁️ **Pink Eye:** If your child has pink eye, please wait until they’ve received treatment (usually antibiotics or eye drops for 24 hours) before they return.

Together, we can keep our school and community healthy! If you’re ever in doubt, don’t hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider or keep your child home until they feel well enough to participate fully!

Time to update your student's health forms!!

All students with seizure, allergy, asthma, diabetic, meal modification, and/or other emergency action plans need to have that paperwork updated each school year.

The same for medications; emergency, scheduled daily and over-the-counter medications. We will need updated medication permission forms on file. Over-the-counter medications DO NOT need a physician's signature, only a guardian's signature for permission to administer.

Reminder that all sent to school medication must be in the original container. Prescription medication(s) must be in the pharmacy bottle with the prescription information/label on the bottle.

Please, get with me if you have any questions or concerns. I know that getting into the doctor to get everything in order before the start of school can be a challenge. I will definitely work with you! Communications is key!!

We are seeing high numbers of illness this winter. One ongoing illness we’re hearing a lot is reports of “stomach flu”. “Stomach flu” is commonly caused by the Norovirus. Please, help stop the spread! One of the best ways is to practice good hand washing!
