Teaming up with Western Kansas Oncology Group has been an incredible asset in delivering high-quality oncology care close to home.

For Dr. Robert Rodriguez, who lost his father and two grandparents to cancer, being able to help friends and family in Goodland was the big reason he became an oncologist.

“It’s something I’m very, very passionate about,” he said. “This is my home. I want to be able to help the people who helped me get to where I am. I feel a very serious and earnest calling to take care of them.”

Since May 2025, Rodriguez and Amanda Volchko, physician assistant, have had their own practice called the Western Kansas Oncology Group. They travel between hospitals in Tribune, Goodland, Oakley and Scott City seeing patients.

Rodriguez is pictured here with Goodland resident Rollie Hallagin, who credits Rodriguez with saving his life.
