🌸 The Case of the EVIL BIRD-OF-PARADISE 🌸

Over the weekend, a friend of Dr. C took a bird-of-paradise pedal straight to the eye while bending down to grab something off the ground.

👉 Check out image 6 to see the damage (skip if you’re squeamish about “gross” eye photos!).

This type of corneal abrasion is extremely painful—the cornea has more nerve endings than anywhere else in the body.

Dr. C’s treatment plan:
• A bandage contact lens to protect the cornea from the eyelid
• An antibiotic to prevent infection
• Pain management

Have you called us and talked to the nice lady with the cool accent? 2 years ago, we hired Gina to help answer phones away from the clinic so we could completely focus on patient care.
Today marks her last day… help us wish her well and she advances in her new career!

Dr. Garvin and I want to take a second to congratulate our University of Houston College of Optometry 2011 classmate, Dr. Shamekia Nwafor Savoy, for acquiring Carencro Eye Clinic from Dr. Evelyn Hanna. Also, congrats to Dr. Hanna for retirement!
We are excited for our new neighbor up north!
