🚨 Dog Bite Prevention Week 🚨
When kids and dogs are together, awareness matters more than anything.
Dogs communicate before they react—you just have to know what to look for:
🐾 Stiff or frozen body
🐾 Turning their head away
🐾 Wide eyes or showing the whites (“whale eye”)
🐾 Yawning, lip licking, or backing away
These are signs a dog is feeling uncomfortable or overwhelmed.
Here’s the part most people don’t realize: many dog bites happen during everyday moments with familiar dogs—not strangers.
That’s why education is everything.
Teach kids how to respectfully interact with dogs, give dogs space when they need it, and always supervise interactions. When dogs feel safe and understood, everyone wins.
Let’s set both our kids and our dogs up for safe, positive experiences 🐕💙
