Lacey has spent her entire life in Scottsbluff – a town she still calls home alongside a large and close-knit family that includes her parents, step-parents, siblings, step-siblings, grandparents and two young relatives she’s especially fond of – her niece and nephew.
She currently serves as our dietary manager, a position she earned after working as a cook at the facility for a year and a half. Fleenor taught herself the responsibilities of the role and took charge of the department with initiative and care. She credits administrator Jennifer Coffman for supporting her growth and giving her the opportunity to lead.
“We were left in an unexpected situation,” she said. “I knew I should apply for the position of manager because I knew I could do it. I accepted the position, and it has given me many great opportunities.”
Fleenor is known for her strong work ethic and her belief that good food can lift spirits. She’s committed to making sure residents are well-fed and cared for, and she approaches her role with consistency and compassion.
“I have enjoyed becoming a manager for the first time on my own,” she said. “Jennifer believed in me enough to offer me the position and has been nothing but supportive. I strive for excellence in the kitchen because serving others is in my blood.
“I am proud to serve the residents and staff food from the heart. Food is important because when you have a happy belly, you have a happy heart.”
Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, spending time with animals, and organizing spaces—whether it’s a flower bed or a kitchen pantry. She’s someone who finds satisfaction in helping others and keeping things in order.
“Working here at WEL-Life has given me a chance to become a better person, employee and human,” she said. “Trials and tribulations happen. We learn and grow, but I appreciate the chance I’ve been given here. I love the family-like environment – it feels like home.”
