Our Highlands Medical Center family is standing together for one of our own — a brave young boy named Tucker. Many of you may know Tucker as the son of one of our incredible ER nurses, and he has been part of our Highlands family since the day he was born.

Tucker has faced health challenges from the start, having been born with a heart condition that he’s fought with incredible strength and spirit. Recently, his family received the heartbreaking news that he has also been diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma.

Tucker’s courage, smile, and determination continue to inspire all of us here at Highlands. We ask our community to join us in surrounding Tucker, his mom, and their entire family with love, hope, and prayers as they face this next fight together. 💚💪

We’re so thankful to be part of such a generous and caring community. Members of Grace Methodist Church came together to collect and donate 114 items for our nursery floor, helping support families with babies born right here in our local area.

These donations including baby essentials items will provide comfort to newborns and ease the transition home for new parents.

A special thank-you to Caroline Hodges for delivering the donations on behalf of the church. Acts of kindness like this remind us how strong and compassionate our community truly is.

We had a great turnout at our Highlands Pediatrics Kids FunFest and want to thank everyone who stopped by to spend the day with us! It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the activities and connecting with our team.

Our EMS Supervisor Unit is now equipped to carry and administer blood in the field, making Jackson County one of the few EMS systems nationwide with this lifesaving ability.

With only about 2% of ground EMS units across the country carrying blood products, Jackson County is leading the way in trauma care innovation.

Why it matters:
Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading preventable cause of death in trauma.
Every minute counts and the earlier blood is administered, the better the chances of survival.

With blood now on board our supervisor truck, lifesaving transfusions can begin before a patient even reaches the hospital.

This is a huge step forward in care for our community.
