👅✨ Did you know your baby’s tongue can “follow touch”?
This is called the Transverse Tongue Reflex (tongue lateralizing) — when you gently touch one side of your baby’s tongue or gums, their tongue moves toward it! It’s how little ones start practicing tongue movement— long before solids even begin. 🍽️
As your baby grows, this reflex fades to make room for more mature and intentional tongue movements used for moving food, chewing, swallowing, and even speaking.
If your baby is pushing food out, pocketing food, struggling with solids, or having ongoing feeding challenges, it may be a sign that some oral reflexes are still hanging around longer than they should.
Let’s figure it out together! Book a Free Meet & Greet to chat about your baby’s feeding journey and how we can help 🤍
