TMJ stands for a temporalmandibular joint which is your jaw joint. Obviously, we all have two jaw joints! When one has a medical issue with their TMJ, we would call it TMD or temporal mandibular dysfunction or disorder. Did you know the difference?

This disorder typically can manifest itself as a popping, clicking or a gravelly sound in the joint. In some cases, there is no noise present. Other symptoms may include jaw joint pain, facial pain, difficulty opening your mouth, headaches, ringing of the ears, sleep issues and even neck or back pain.

Dr. Sims and administrative director, Heather Staab, were in New Orleans at the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of New Orleans this weekend. There they continued their education in the first ever pediatric protocol for redevelopment of the airway to help support breathing concerns. Dr. Billings and Dr. Levy were wonderful hosts!

While there they also had the opportunity to celebrate Dr. Olmos and his wife Susan's birthdays along with two other doctors birthday's at Rock 'n Bowl. It was a great weekend to enjoy good conversation, food, the beautiful sights of New Orleans, and best of all the latest information for helping kids breathe and live better lives!
