We have a special visitor at Douglas Family Dentistry this summer — Dr. Douglas’s niece, Ashley!🦷✨ She’s a third-year dental student at the University of Iowa. She traded Hawkeye country for some Arizona sunshine to spend a few weeks shadowing her uncle and learning the ropes from the best of the best here at DFD (not that we’re biased😉).

We’re so proud of her and love having her around the office! The future of dentistry is bright with students like Ashley on the rise👏

MEET THE TEAM TUESDAY👋

Meet Jemma! When she came to the US at 12 years old from the Philippines, she was in the dental chair every week. She decided then that she wanted to be in the dental field for both General Practice and as a Pediatric Specialist. While working as a dental assistant and taking care of her family, she took her pre-requisite classes for the dental hygiene program. Jemma received her RDH in 2009 and has been an educator pertaining the oral health for various clinics. As of now, her goal is to further her education pertaining the dental health to provide the highest quality care for her patients.🩷

Jemma has worked for Douglas Family Dentistry for almost 5 years now and is so grateful to be part of the team. She considers DFD to be her second family!

Besides loving her job as a dental hygienist, Jemma has a son who is married to an awesome woman who is giving her her first grandchild! Yayyyyy🧸 She also has a daughter who is now a certified dental assistant and hopes she will be following her momma’s footsteps🤗

Jemma is also a huge outdoors enthusiast! Hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, camping, fishing...you name it!☀️🥾🚣‍♀️ She also likes to either watch or participate in any sports. Jemma's life is full and loving every minute of it! 🙌

MEET THE TEAM TUESDAY👋

Meet Kelly - one of our superstar dental assistants here at Douglas Family Dentistry with 24 years of experience under her belt (12 of which are right here at DFD)!🌟

Originally from Rockford, IL, Kelly traded snow for sunshine and moved to the Valley of the Sun back in 2002🌵☀️ While she doesn’t have any human kiddos, she’s a proud dog mom to her fur baby, Aretha (yes, like the Queen of Soul!)🐾 When she’s not spoiling Aretha rotten, you can find Kelly jamming out at a live music event with her fiancé, Mark. The pair got engaged last month on an amazing trip to Italy🇮🇹💍

Another fun fact about Kelly is that she’s a huge Golden Girls fan! As a true child of the 80s, she grew up watching Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, and Sophia work their comedic magic, and her love for these four ladies has never faded (we bet she’s even got a cheesecake recipe or two up her sleeve!)🌈🍰

Kelly loves her job at DFD and is here to make your visit as fun and fabulous as she is💖✨

We are heartbroken to share the passing of our dear friend and former colleague, Kandice Marie Shannon. She was a bright light, known for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit. We're so grateful for the years she worked at Douglas Family Dentistry.

In honor of Kandice’s incredible life, her family is hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 15, from 12:00–4:00 PM at Pitch (Old Town Scottsdale location). All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.

Kandice fought cancer with incredible strength for nearly a decade, and now it’s time to celebrate her legacy with love, laughter, and of course, her signature style—Derby Day attire and big hats encouraged!

Kandice, you will always be in our hearts❤️

MEET THE TEAM TUESDAY👋

Meet Dawn - the newest dental hygienist here at Douglas Family Dentistry. She has been practicing dental hygiene since 2003, spending most of those years in Lake Havasu City, AZ, where she raised her four amazing kids. Now, three of them have blessed her with five little grandkids who are her greatest joy!🩷

Beyond her career, Dawn has many passions, with yoga being a big one. She owns a small studio, Joy Bird Yoga, in Fountain Hills which keeps her grounded (and sane!).🧘🏻‍♀️ She's also an avid runner and had the incredible experience of qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon in 2019.🏃🏻‍♀️ Dawn thrives in the outdoors - whether hiking, paddleboarding, or just soaking up the sun.🥾☀️ Growing up in California, the beach will always be her happy place. Above all, her favorite place to be is with her kids and grandkids.

Dawn is so grateful to be part of this amazing team and look forward to caring for our wonderful patients!🦷🪥🙌🏼

When Nebraska pride brings people together! 🏈🌽 This morning, we welcomed our new patient, Kevin, from Nebraska, and it just so happened that we had some Nebraska gear on hand—so of course, we had to have a little fun! 😆 We surprised him by decked out in Husker red, and the smile on his face said it all. It’s moments like these that make our Douglas Family Dentistry office feel like family❤️

Meet Pam - one of the Dental Assistants here at Douglas Family Dentistry. Pam was born and raised in the Heart Land of our country, Nebraska! (Yes, she's a Husker through and through!)🌽

Pam married her high school sweetheart, Rick, 38 years ago and they've been together 42 years. Together they had their daughter CaSarah who has further blessed them with three living grandchildren and one heavenly grandchild. They are so proud to be grandparents!🩵

A fun fact about Pam is that she LOVES animals! She has two golden retrievers, three cocker spaniels, and six cats! Her love extends to her horses and sheep as well. 🐶🐱🐴🐑 Another fun fact is that Pam has always loved to read which inspired her to write and publish her very own romance novel!

Pam loves her job at DFD and takes pride in creating relationships with our incredible patients. If she hasn't met you yet in the office, she looks forward to the opportunity soon!🤗
