Here’s a follow-up to a recent following lumpectomy. This young lady had a R breast CA, for which she opted for a breast-conserving lumpectomy as treatment. Performing the oncoplastic reconstruction in conjunction with the breast surgeon allows us to fill the defect by rearranging the tissue, so as to minimize concavity or potential defects from where breast tissue is removed. Then, a breast reduction/breast lift is performed on the other side to give symmetry.

Here she is at preop with the arrow showing the location of her tumor. The following photo, at 2 wks postop, to show excellent rearrangement of her native tissue along with contra later breast reduction/lift to obtain excellent size/symmetry/shape of the breasts.

This is an excellent mode of treatment and reconstruction that affords great results with minimal downtime!

This technique has been a great option for many women undergoing for - Oncoplastic Breast Reconstruction. As a combined procedure with the breast surgeon, we design flaps of breast tissue to fill the defect where the tissue was removed. This minimizes the chance for concavity where tissue was removed and gives good vascularized tissue in the area which significantly ameliorates scarring and radiation. One if the added benefits is performing this much like we would for a breast reduction/lift and give improved size/shape/symmetry to the other breast as well - the aesthetic results can be fantastic!

These curvilinear ‘J’ incisions have truly been a powerful tool in the shaping of the breast for both aesthetics and reconstruction. The ability to contour the lower pole with this technique, and use it as a short-scar, by tightening the inferior skin has enhanced the aesthetics of breast shape!

This artistry tip, taught to me by the great is often still used by me in and even for shaping. The breast reduction has allowed me to offer the most optimal results in breast reduction results. Have great training, have great mentors…heave great results!

We're thrilled to share these amazing results of our patient's Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty, performed by the skilled hands of Dr. Andres! Keep reading to learn more about this procedure: ⬇️

→ Our 51-year-old patient complained of people always commenting how she looked “tired”. She desired amelioration of her eyelid area and a rejuvenated appearance.
→ Dr. Andres and our patient had a thorough discussion of all of the options available, as well as discussed her goals.
→ She underwent Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty and redraping of the fat of her lower eyelids via an incision inside of the lower eyelids to improve the contour.
→ She also had Micro Fat Grafting to the lower eyelids and cheeks to add fullness and create a more invigorated appearance.
→ Our patient is 11 months post-op and shows improved contour and a rejuvenated appearance of her eyes.

March 21 (3/21) - trisomy/21

My graduate doctorate work in neuroscience focused on Down Syndrome and Alzheimer’s Disease. Neurogenerative Diseases and Neirological Disorders is what started my journey into medicine. Now…I love to focus on the associated brain, heart, and cleft conditions with such. Aging and neuroscience started my transition to the medical field…it’s history from there 🙏🏽

Down Syndrome Awareness Month is about encouraging more people to learn about this condition, to celebrate those living with it and to recognize the ways in which medical advancements can and do increasingly boost their quality of life. They are some of the best people that I know in my life ❤️

One of Dr. Andres's passions is to utilize his expertise to help those in need, like he did on his recent mission trip to the Philippines. Here is a case Dr. Andres performed on a 3-month-old boy who was born with a unilateral, complete cleft lip and palate. 👇

→ A comprehensive team approach was taken to involve all specialties in order to ensure social, diet, speech, and other specialties.
→ He underwent a cleft lip repair with excellent results.
→ In several months, he will have the palate repaired.
→ Both baby and family are doing well and are continue to be followed during this journey.

Dr. Andres continues his pediatric plastic surgery volunteerism on international surgical missions several times per year and performs numerous cleft lip and palate repairs along with congenital deformities, burns, and hand reconstructions all over the world each year.

👉 Our 26-year-old patient came to us for a chest contouring consultation, where he stated that he was self-conscious of the appearance of his chest and would avoid removing his shirt amongst friends and family.
👉 The various options included excisional gynecomastia surgery to surgically remove the glandular tissue in the area or liposuction of the chest to remove the fatty tissue in the area.
👉 After discussing his goals and the various options, our patient decided to proceed with chest liposuction.
👉 This was performed via small, imperceptible stab incisions to suction out the area's fat and contour the entire chest wall, leaving a well-defined chest with minimal discomfort and downtime.
👉 Postoperative photographs are shown here at 6 months. They demonstrate much-improved contouring of our patient's chest by removing the overlying fatty tissue.
👉 He is very happy with his new chest and its definition, and reports increased self-confidence and esteem.
