Why Train with Me?
Is it my 37 years of professional experience? My training? My natural ability?
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from excellent teachers and receiving top-tier training—not only in hands-on bodywork but also in complementary disciplines such as mindfulness meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong. Since 2000, I have specialized in myofascial release, focusing on helping people in pain. From the very beginning, even while I was still in training, I was achieving remarkable results. Now, 25 years later, I have helped a vast number of people, many of whom experience lasting relief.
My Philosophy: Treating the Person, Not Just the Symptoms
The ultimate goal of my work is to help people feel better. What “better” means is subjective—while not everyone recovers 100%, their quality of life significantly improves. Their pain lessens, their tension releases, and many return to a pain-free life.
Pain is often misunderstood. Some clients have a clear cause, such as an accident or injury, but many have no idea why they are hurting. These individuals are ideal candidates for my approach—if they are willing to engage in their own healing.
Through years of experience, I’ve found that much of the pain people experience is self-induced through chronic holding patterns, such as clenching the jaw or tensing the shoulders. Most people are completely unaware they are doing this. My approach goes beyond treating symptoms—I educate clients on how to recognize and change these unconscious patterns, empowering them to take control of their own healing.
My Approach to Treatment
I work with clients in a structured series to ensure they receive the best possible outcome.
1. Introductory Session: Every client starts with one session. At the end of this session, if both the client and I believe this work will be beneficial, we proceed to a short series.
2. Short Series (Four Sessions): I recommend four additional sessions scheduled as closely together as possible within the client’s availability.
3. Evaluation: By the end of this short series, clients will know clearly whether they are improving. If they are, we develop a treatment plan based on their specific needs. The ultimate goal is to space sessions out until they no longer need to come in regularly.
What I Teach and How I Teach It
My training provides therapists with skills that can be integrated into their existing practice or used as a specialization.
1. Hands-On Learning: My classes are 80% hands-on lab work, ensuring students learn both from the therapist’s and the client’s perspectives.
2. Effortless Application: I teach techniques that allow deep, effective work while using minimal effort. Proper body mechanics and technique application ensure ease of movement and prevent therapist injury.
3. Client Education & Awareness: I emphasize working with clients, not just on them. Many clients are unaware of their own tension patterns. Rather than simply telling them to relax (which they often think they already are), I gently guide them toward awareness. This approach becomes the foundation of their self-awareness training.
4. Self-Care & Injury Prevention: Therapists often neglect their own well-being. My approach prioritizes self-care to help therapists sustain a long, injury-free career.
