Are you feeling burnt out at work? Looking forward to the weekend on Monday and getting Sunday scaries each week? Work, for many of us, is a part of life that we cannot escape from, but our relationship with work and ourselves is something we have control over. Try following some of these steps to help you cope with work stress and change your relationship and perception of work.

Are you someone who relates to being fearfully-avoidantly attached? Begin by acknowledging and understanding the childhood pain this stems from, set boundaries when you begin to over-give in relationships to avoid resentment building, and learn to pay attention to those who want to authentically give to you and support you.

Just a quick reminder that you are amazing.

James is a Licensed Associate Counselor (temp.) and recently completed a year-long internship with Scottsdale Bible Counseling Ministry. James is passionate about helping others to see how valuable they are; he aims to walk alongside people as they gain new insight and tools to have and enjoy a full life. He specializes in men’s issues, marriage/relational counseling (including those with disability and other unique circumstances), group counseling, and counseling for individuals; James also has extensive experience with teenagers, as he served as a high school youth leader at his church for 4 years.

The first thing most people notice about James is that he has a physical disability and is confined to a power wheelchair. James was born with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (MD) and relies on caregivers to help him with most physical tasks. Despite being limited physically, he was raised to work hard and focus on the things he has, rather than the things he does not have. Because of his faith in Christ and support group of loving friends and family, James sees his disability as a unique platform to help others, rather than a burden to be resented.

James completed his undergraduate studies at Arizona State University where he studied filmmaking in 2013. He received his Master of Arts in Counseling from Phoenix Seminary in May of 2021 and married his beautiful wife Kelsey the following month. James is a diehard Diamondbacks fan, loves going to the movies, and will never say no to a bag of Fritos or some Reese’s peanut butter cups.

For the next few weeks we are going to look at our attachment styles. Starting off with an Anxious Attachment style! We look at what a person or partner with an Anxious Attachment may struggle with and what their strengths may be! What do you relate with?
