NOVEMBER SAFETY TIPS ๐
With cooler weather, the holidays, and fun events happening all around, it's important to have heightened awareness of child safety and protection. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
๐ Keep Decorations Child-Safe
Place breakable ornaments, glass bulbs, and sharp decorations out of reach. Avoid small decorations that could pose choking hazards for younger children.
๐ Be Aware of Fire and Heat Sources
Keep kids at least 3 feet (1 meter) away from fireplaces, candles, space heaters, and stovetops. Use electric candles or flameless dรฉcor when possible.
๐ Check Lights and Electrical Cords
Ensure holiday lights are certified for indoor or outdoor use as needed. Replace frayed cords and keep them out of walking paths to prevent tripping or pulling hazards.
๐ Secure the Christmas Tree/ Seasonal Furniture
Anchor real or artificial trees and seasonal furniture so young children canโt pull them over. Keep real trees well-watered to reduce fire risk.
๐ Prevent Kitchen Accidents
Keep hot foods, drinks, and utensils away from edges where little hands can reach. Turn pot handles toward the back of the stove.
๐ Discuss Safety Around Holiday Events
If attending parties or community events, teach children where to go if they get separated and establish a check-in plan.
