This is an example of revisional surgery to correct complications caused by an other surgery. This patient had her eyelid surgery performed elsewhere and was not happy with the surgical outcome. She came to us for revisional surgery. Unfortunately, too much fat and skin was removed from her upper and lower eyelids causing hollowness and making the eyes appear to be bulging out. Also, the lower eyelids were pulling away from the eyeball (eyelid retraction) exposing too much of the eye and causing irritation.
Restoring the natural appearance after this kind of complications could be challenging. The revisional surgery, entailed release of scar tissue, repositioning of the lower eyelids, tightening of the ligaments and fat grafting around the eye socket to add volume. She had an excellent result.
The natural shape and appearance of her eyes were restored. The eyelids are in their normal anatomical position, she’s able to close her eyes fully, and her symptoms of irritation are resolved.
