If I wasn’t a yoga teacher I’d be an architect or an interior designer. I love beautiful spaces that connect both with people that inhabit them and the landscape they sit in.

Taking a tour of the Taliesin West -Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and academy in the Arizonan desert, was like taking a masterclass in how a building can be one the landscape, be simple yet magnificent in how it looks and functions. PURE JOY!

And it’s warm!!!! Arizona has already got me smiling😊

Recent research has significantly advanced our understanding of Fibromyalgia revealing it to be a complex and multifaceted condition influenced by various biological and environmental factors. And I believe that holds true for most chronic pain disorders.

Once you understand your condition and your body you can find a way to heal.

Will be sharing what really works in my next post.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes widespread pain, fatigue, sleep issues, and cognitive difficulties—often called “fibro fog.” For decades, it was misunderstood, misdiagnosed and even dismissed as ‘imaginary’ pain.

But recent research continues to shed new light on the condition.

We now know fibromyalgia involves changes in how the brain and nervous system process pain—essentially turning up the volume on pain signals. Studies also show links to immune system dysregulation, stress responses, and even gut health.

Thanks to this growing body of research, new treatment approaches are evolving—focusing not just on symptom relief, but also on nervous system regulation, lifestyle support, and holistic care.

My own healing journey took me down the holistic route, yet every new research and scientific evidence is vital to helping me understand my body and the condition.
It has been vital to grounding my holistic practice in evidence based practices.

As part of the Fibromyalgia Awareness Month I will be sharing my experience and my learning with the hope that you can find your healing too.

Spring is all about making space for growth. For allowing new ideas, new ways of being to take root and flourish .⁣

We unconsciously hold on to old habits and patterns because they feel familiar, because they ‘feel’ like us .⁣
But maybe they keep us stuck, stop us from growing and becoming more us. ⁣

3 easy ways to create space for that new energy.⁣

1. 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 - Ever notice how your space affects your mind? If your room, workspace, or closet is packed with stuff -take a good hard look. What do you no longer need? Find a good home for it so your space can breathe ⁣

2. 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘅 - Sometimes we mindlessly consume —food and information. A week of consciously consuming only what’s good for you on your plate and on your screen can help reset your system and set new patterns ⁣

3. 𝗧𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝘄 – Shake things up! It’s easy to fall into the same old routine, but now’s the perfect time to try something new. Whether it’s learning a new skill, picking up a hobby you’ve always wanted to try, or simply changing up your daily routine—it’s all about breaking free from the old patterns and making space for growth .⁣

New season, new energy. Let’s embrace the change and make room for the good stuff. What are you ready to let go of and make space for?

What makes your energy flow? What blocks it? What causes this ebb and flow? And most importantly—how can you manage it? All questions lead to one answer, your 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘢. ⁣

At the heart of yoga lies the concept of Prana—the vital life force that pulses through everything. When it flows freely, we feel alive, focused, and capable. When it’s blocked, we feel stuck, drained, or in pain.⁣

The ancient yogis believed that ill health was a sign of disrupted 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘢. Chronic illness then is a sign of chronically depleted 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘢 or life force. ⁣

My own healing journey has made me increasingly aware of my energy patterns, the ups and downs. And the more I work with my 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘢 the better I feel in my body avd mind. ⁣

How do you nurture your energy? Let’s talk in the comments! 💛

Need a January break already? ⁣
Even as the whole world is telling you to crack on with the new year, it’s good to remember that in the northern hemisphere it’s still winter. ⁣

And if you live in the higher latitudes, the sun is still rising late and setting early. The days are short and dark and nature is hibernating.⁣

We forget that our biochemistry tunes into our surroundings and we are happiest and healthiest when we in harmony with the world around. ⁣

So while it may not be possible to drop everything and go into hibernation mode perhaps we can allow for some slowing down.⁣

Just few minutes a day to read a book, walk in nature , sit still, practice some gentle restorative yoga… anything that helps you drop down to gear one …will transform how you move through not just the winter months but the rest of year.

STEPPING GENTLY INTO THE NEW YEAR .⁣

As I leave 2024 behind, I feel like a pilgrim who has walked a thousand long miles. Exhausted, elated and surprised I made it. ⁣

Back in January, I had no idea I was embarking on such a journey of faith; faith in myself, faith in those around me and in life itself. A journey that would be joyous and fulfilling and testing and ultimately, most humbling.⁣

This was the year I launched my yoga business and had my fair share of ups and downs, travelled to some incredible places, made new friends, reunited with old ones after decades, attended two weddings and a funeral ( my first) , spent a lot of time in hospitals and held onto every precious moment with loved ones.⁣

Life happens. And it shapes us. Sometimes it splits us open, forcing us to look into the deepest darkest corners that hold our fear and grief and helplessness. However, in doing so also shows us where our joy lives.⁣

So, as I reconcile the year that has been, in my body and soul, I find I want to step lightly into the new year. Flit into it like a butterfly, not weighed down by an ambitious list of resolutions and goals. Without the striving for something better, or to be better. Without any plans to fix old habits and forge new ones. I simply want to embrace the moment and dance through the meadows for a while; my heart leading me.⁣

Nothing extraordinary to achieve for now. Just to be. As I tell my students ⁣

No doubt at some point life will rush in, diaries and the to-do lists will fill up, plans will be made and broken and amazing new things will be embarked upon. But for now I’m letting the new year slowly unfold as it wants to.⁣

Wishing you your kind of 2025. May it be a good one!

5 days to Christmas and five simple steps to slaying the season without flaring up. ⁣

This holiday season I encourage you to drop the usual hustle and really lean into some nourishing hygge magic. Hygge ( pronounced hypo-guh) is a Danish concept of finding warmth, comfort and joy in life’s simple things. Think cosy spaces, soft blankets, glowing candles, fairy lights, soft music , a cup of hot cocoa…everything that makes you sigh and let go. That’s the hygge vibe. ⁣

Instead of feeling pressured to keep up with everything, you can embrace a slower, cosier approach that lets you focus on what truly brings you comfort and joy . ⁣

STEP 1⁣
Cozy Up Your Space ⁣
Create a warm and space where you can retreat to with simple additions of pillows, blankets , candles..you get the idea. ⁣

STEP 2 ⁣
Keep it Simple ⁣
Simplify whatever you can. Delegate, improvise and drop the need for perfection. Even if old traditions and gremlins in your brain are telling you otherwise. ⁣

STEP 3⁣
Daily Dose of Self Care⁣
Think about creating simple, soothing rituals that help you rest and recharge without feeling the need to book a day at the spa.⁣

STEP 4 ⁣
Have low -key gatherings and even party in your pjs with your friends if that takes the pressure off you. ⁣

STEP 5 ⁣
Set Boundaries⁣
When you live with chronic pain you have to give yourself permission to say ‘no’ . Set boundaries with yourself and others without feeling guilty for protecting your energy.⁣

One of the good things about living Fibromyalgia is that it has taught me to pay attention to my body, my mind and my energy. It has taught me to slow down.⁣

And ever since I discovered the beautiful wisdom of hygge it has shown me how the smallest changes can make a big difference.

Hope it helps you too!!! Have the best holiday season yet ❤️
