Tired of "solutions" that don't last? So were we. So Dr. Tom opened a clinic that does healthcare differently. (We call it the .) And it all starts with finding the ROOT CAUSE. Turns out, the culprit's not usually your muscles...

🌱Check out our new blog, "Why Muscles Get Tight" to find the real cause of your neck, shoulder, knee, hip, and/or back pain.

How many people have told you to foam roll your IT band? And how many times have you endured the sharp pain as you rolled down the outside of your thigh? Well it turns out that not only is it extremely painful, it’s also not helpful 😐 Because your IT band isn’t actually a muscle, foam rolling doesn’t do anything at all… except potentially cause injury.

Instead, relieve tightness and knee pain by foam rolling the muscles that connect to the IT band, like the gluteus maximus or the TFL in your hip.

To see these (actually helpful) foam rolling moves in action, check out the 🔗link🔗 in our bio!

🗣PSA: You don’t have to rely on painkillers for the rest of your life 💊

Whether you’re frustrated because your life is being limited by back pain, headaches, or anything in between, painkillers are probably doing more damage than good 😵

Stop masking the pain and start fixing the ROOT CAUSE 🌳

Most people think headaches are mysterious and can only be treated with painkillers on a case-by-case basis…

In reality, the majority of headaches have a known, treatable cause. (And leaving it untreated can cause real problems down the line.)

SURPRISE! There’s a good chance that if you’ve been diagnosed with migraines as an adult, you’ve actually been MISdiagnosed! 😵‍💫

🧠Real migraines begin to develop in childhood. Rarely do they come on in adulthood.

The bad news is, the treatment for migraines isn’t always effective for tension headaches. In fact, traditional treatment for migraines like:

💊 Painkillers
💉Botox injections
👩🏼‍⚕️Migraine medication prescriptions

can be HARMFUL for people who actually have tension headaches! (Which, as it turns out, is the MOST COMMON kind of headache…)

Want to learn more? Our new Tension Headaches, Part I article is live on the blog!

Head to the link in our bio to discover long-term solutions for TENSION headaches, or learn how to soothe them on your own by registering for our upcoming, interactive Headache and Neck Pain Workshop on Wednesday 24th at 6:30p! [Link in Bio!]

Your success is our success.

It means the world to us when the light bulb goes off and our clients realize that THEY DO HAVE THE POWER to make their goals and their dreams their reality, that THEY DO HAVE THE POWER to change their life! And they show us that when they become an active part of their recovery.

Two things that make our clinic unique:
1️⃣ Our clients come in less often,
2️⃣ We focus on education,
3️⃣ Our clients meet their goals (Whoops, was that 3? 🤔😏)

Back to exercises+education! 💪👩🏼‍🎓

Education is important for a few reasons. When your PT takes the time to explain what’s going on, you…
⭐️feel CONFIDENT that you are making progress even when you’re not in the clinic,

⭐️UNDERSTAND WHY you’re doing what you’re doing and what’s happening in your body,

⭐️TAKE YOUR HEALTH INTO YOUR OWN HANDS and play an active role in reaching your goals.

BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE POWER!

All of this is possible because our clients commit to their goals and the plans of care our doctors prescribe (not to brag, but our clients are basically the best 💁🏻‍♀️).

Sticking to your exercises and appointment schedule is SO IMPORTANT when it comes to meeting your goals (and meeting them on schedule), so when Dr. Jake hears that you’ve been making boss moves and taking control of your recovery, it’s music to his ears 😌🎵

Most physical therapists don’t get a chance to provide the patient care they want to give and that they know their patients deserve.

Dr. Tom felt this way when he first graduated from PT school, and it’s the reason he created something different. At The Doctors of Physical Therapy, patients aren’t handed off to rotating techs. At DPT, they’re not handed off to techs at all. Our patients are with a doctor for their entire hour-long session. Every time.

This means our patients get expert, personalized care—and our results show it. 💯

It’s what we call a

Many people don’t know that there are different types of scoliosis. Congenital scoliosis (which people are born with) can only be treated with surgery. However, some types are acquired after birth and can often be temporary if they’re detected early enough.

In this case, the doctors at DPT were able to successfully treat a pronounced curve with proper physical therapy thanks to early intervention.

Is PT cool or what?

Do you know someone with scoliosis?

The thing that sets good providers apart from great providers is their willingness to collaborate with other healthcare professionals on patient cases instead of only considering solutions that fall within their domain.

By collaborating with experts in other specialties, providers are able to help their patients find the BEST solution (or combination of solutions), not just the best solution that THEY CAN PROVIDE.

The patients who work with us don’t just have access to us. They have access to an entire network of talented and caring wellness providers who work together to find and deliver the care they need and deserve.

We ask other providers for their feedback and insights, we refer to specialists who can help our patients in ways we can’t, and we collaborate to deliver cohesive plans of care across our patients’ team of providers.

This is a shout out to those providers. Thank you for making healthcare a team sport, where our patients’ wins are all of our wins.

Our Story

It’s astonishing how many people have been given advice such as “you’re just getting older” or “you should stop doing that activity…”

Having been on the receiving end of advice like this, the founder of DPT has created a company that has helped hundreds of determined individuals get back to doing what they love, and laugh in the face of bad advice.

The above is a quote from Dr. Tom Padilla himself, in reference to his own difficulty finding help when he needed it most. He has built this company to help others say goodbye to short-term solutions that ease pain, but do not get people back to the activities that matter most.

People who choose to work with DPT know that these activities are what keep them sane, lower their stress levels, and help them sleep at night.
