Happy Footwear Friday!
It’s been really cold here in AZ this week, so let’s close out the winter season with my favorite warm slippers! Uggs! Some people may think that they are UGGly, but once your feet feel the cozy soft sheepskin, it won’t matter.
The Ugg brand was founded in 1978 in California by Australian surfers, Brian Smith and Doug Jensen.
Ugg materials consist of UggPure, UggPlush, TreadLite, and their EnerG insoles. They use repurposed wool and plant-based lyocell fibers for softness and sustainability.
The slippers consist of soft insoles and rigid outsoles. This makes them an excellent choice for people with arthritis or metatarsalgia. Uggs can also benefit people with Raynauds or peripheral vascular disease.
I would not recommend these slippers for anyone with Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, or Hyperhydrosis.
Being comfortable is not UGGly. Go try on some Uggs today!

It’s Footwear Friday!
Today I chose Oboz Sypes Low Leather Waterproof hiking shoes.
I hiked Yosemite Falls with Yaktrax, snowshoes, and without any extra traction and was very impressed with the comfort and structure of these shoes.
I got them from REI for a trip without breaking them in and was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t need to see a Podiatrist post hike because of that stupid rookie move.
My feet stayed warm and dry. The shoes (pair) are a little heavy at 1 lb. 10oz, but I didn’t notice the extra weight.
The Oboz Sypes have mesh fabric uppers and a board-lasted underfoot, which is beneficial for people with arthritis (it limits the motion of your foot). The O-FIT insoles were supportive, comfortable, and made with Bloom, a plant-based foam made with algae biomass. Oboz also plants a tree for every pair that are sold!
The only downside to these shoes were that the laces were a little short (see pic) and I would have preferred the purple vs the green color because it would have matched my coat better, but REI was out of stock. I highly recommend these for a beautiful hike in cold weather!

FOOTWEAR FRIDAY!

Dr. Anna’s shoes of choice this week are the Saucony Peregrine11.
This shoe has PWRTRC rubber lugs for great traction and a PWRRUN foam midsole for cushion. There is also a built-in rock plate for protection.
This shoe is great for people with a wider forefoot or bunions. This shoe is also beneficial for people with Hallux Rigidus (arthritis in the big toe joint) because of the rigidity of the shoe. Unfortunately, if you have a history of Plantar Fasciitis, this may not be the shoe for you because it only has a 4mm drop.
If the Grand Canyon is on your bucket list, go get a pair of these beautiful solid trail runners!
