It is with deep regret we share the sad news of Franklyn Sills passing on August 11. We bow to the breath of life that has been stilled for him. As a pioneering teacher of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Franklyn had a profound impact on our community of practitioners, teachers and students who have been inspired by his work and teachings. We are deeply grateful for his presence, his teachings and the wisdom he offered and extend our condolences to all who grieve this loss. He opened doors of perception and clarified nature’s truths for countless individuals.

Franklyn Sills dedicated his life to exploring the intricacies of human health and consciousness. He co-founded the Karuna Institute in Devon with his first wife, Maura Sills, where he taught and developed a comprehensive curriculum for BCST. His seminars attracted students from around the world, eager to learn from his expertise and experience. Attendees often spoke of the palpable stillness and spaciousness that characterized his teachings, particularly during demonstrations with his second wife, Cherionna Menzam Sills, who is also a BCST practitioner.

Throughout his career, Franklyn Sills was known for his lightness of spirit, childlike smile, and sparkling eyes. He practiced Qi Gong and Tai Chi and had once been a Buddhist monk, which influenced his holistic approach to therapy. His teachings emphasized the establishment of a safe “relational field” between client and practitioner, a concept he coined as the “holistic shift.” This focus on the quality of the therapeutic relationship has become a cornerstone of BCST practice.

The volumes Franklyn authored on Craniosacral Biodynamics as well as on the Polarity Process will ensure he remains a source of continuing inspiration for the next generation of practitioners. His legacy is marked by his unwavering dedication to the field and his ability to hold space for his colleagues and students with love, non-judgmental awareness, care, and integrity. He will be remembered not only as a master practitioner and teacher but also as a dear friend and inspiration to many.

As the community mourns the loss of Franklyn Sills, we celebrate his remarkable contributions to Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and the lasting impact he had on the lives of those he touched. May the Breath of Life that arises from stillness carry him through the gateway to the deepest mystery.
