Baby Love Birth Services

Baby Love Birth Services Tamara Parkhurst provides natural childbirth education and doula care for families expecting a baby. I can come to your home, hospital, or birth center.

At Baby Love Birth Services, I provide couples with the help, support, and information they need to make the choices that are appropriate for their family during pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. Childbirth education classes: I teach group and private childbirth classes. They follow The Bradley Method (R) in preparing couples and families for a natural unmedicated birth. We learn about exercises and nutrient in pregnancy, how the body works in labor, relaxation techniques and other comfort measures to use in labor, planning your birth, postpartum and the newborn, and informed consent topics. Doula care: I provide support to families in labor and birth. Whatever your needs are in labor, I can help!

I breastfed my children beyond 2 years (some well beyond). I listened to my body and my kids when it came time to wean. Everyone is different, and every child is different.

Breastfeeding does more than just provide nutrition, and extended breastfeeding gives your kiddos the chance to learn and grow through it. It is normal, natural, and rewarding. If you can give extended breastfeeding a try, then do it! You may be surprised where the journey takes you.

EXTENDED BREASTFEEDING:

A study referenced by Kelly Mom notes that the average weaning age for US moms who practice attachment parenting is about 2.5 years. Globally, La Leche League International notes the average age of weaning hovers near 4/5 years.

As much as we may know that exclusive breastfeeding is important for babies up to at least 6 months, it is also important to know that if you and baby decide to go past 6 or even 12 months, that’s not abnormal at all!
If given the chance, children will self wean anywhere from age 2 and beyond. Breastfeeding continues to be a valuable source of nutrition and disease protection for as long as breastfeeding continues. Breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast and ovarian cancer for mom. For baby, extended breastfeeding continues to provide substantial amounts of key nutrients well beyond the first year of life, especially protein, fat, and vitamins.

If a mom gets pregnant during this period, it is completely safe (in most situations) to nurse while pregnant and continue nursing even after baby arrives.

If you’re thinking about extending breastfeeding past one year, don’t be afraid or ashamed! It’s your body, your baby, your milk!

I'm here at Banner University taking part in a doula collaboration event!!! Working to make care better!

I painted a mug at a pottery shop with my kiddos. All I can say is, once a birth worker always a birth worker! 😂

Effective January 15th, Cigna is covering midwifery care, homebirth, and other maternal services. CPMs/DMs/LMs may also be covered depending on regulations in your state.

It’s a step in the right direction! (However the language used in the policy could certainly use some tweaking.)
