"John Gottman from the Gottman Institute has done extensive research regarding relationships and what makes them happy.

One of the more interesting findings is about the magic ratio. After examining couples and how they dealt with conflict, it seemed that happy couples for who love lasts show five positive interactions for each negative one.

[...]So, let’s say there is a conflict between a couple where one criticizes the other. Then, to resolve this conflict they can try positive interactions, which for example are showing empathy, apologizing, being affectionate, showing appreciation or interest."

2020 was the year of clarity. It became very clear that many of the systems we have in place don't really work. Last year made it apparent, all the things in our lives that don't really work. This past year or so has been rough. Really rough. And we're not out of the woods yet. There are a lot of things we discovered are broken and we might feel a bit battered & bruised. No matter what we've been through or are about to go through, remember to be grateful. Remember to be grateful for all the things that are going right for you - even if it's just the fact that you're still breathing. Take time each day to focus on the things that you are grateful for. The strength you gain from focusing on gratitude allows you to weather any storms. Reclaim your grateful heart!
