This past weekend, we had the honor of supporting an incredible organization, Kid in the Corner, whose mission is to shatter the stigma surrounding mental health and ensure no family ever has to experience the loss of a child.

At IMHA, we believe the work we do is important, but it doesn’t stop in the therapy room. Real impact means showing up, standing alongside our community, and doing the work wherever it’s needed.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be collecting pennies for the Penny Pledge. If you have any extra change lying around, we’d love for you to drop it off at the front desk and be part of this effort.

"Instead of standing on the shore waiting for their light to return, you begin asking: What did they see in me? What did they believe about me? What parts of them live inside me already? You do not replace them. You internalize them. That is how the light continues."

IMHA's founder Ryan M. Sheade, LCSW shares a short, compassionate guide to tending your inner light and navigating grief and change. Read more: https://wix.to/7HVwPjh

It’s the end of Play Therapy Week so we asked some of our resident play therapists at IMHA their “why” when it comes to play therapy

Aleesha Gosal, LMSW- “I use play because it reduces cognitive demand and increase emotional access”

Erica Tatum-Sheade, LCSW- “I am a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor because I believe Play Therapy and training should be accessible”

Maddie Pruden, LAMFT- “I use play therapy because sometimes feelings are easier to show than say”

Do you use play therapy? Tell us why

At the end of the day what truly matters is simple: connection. From five years of running our marriage retreat: "Marriage, It's Not for the Faint of Heart" - we keep returning to that truth. If you want a richer life, chase connection over perfection. Read more: https://wix.to/RUX0YJm

We just finished our fifth year of the marriage retreat that Dr. Erica and I developed and present at the Franciscan Renewal Center, which five years ago we titled "Marriage, It's Not for the Faint of Heart" - and it once again solidified for me a fundamental truth. At the end of the day, when the n...

What is a life for? A short, thoughtful read from Ryan M. Sheade, LCSW that goes beyond success and productivity to explore how people find real meaning. If you’ve ever felt quietly off or misaligned, this one’s for you. Read now: https://wix.to/mRIKOS6

I have spent my entire professional life sitting with people who are searching for meaning. Not success. Not productivity. The world is HARD. How to manage it?. Read now: https://wix.to/Qaqw8PG

We are living in a time where it feels like everything is an argument waiting to happen.Politics. Parenting. Race. Gender. Religion. Vaccines. Education. See our owner Ryan's latest blog:

"Silence has a way of asking questions we have avoided for years. Are you actually happy? What are you grieving that you never let yourself mourn? Who did you become to survive, and who did that cost you? What are you tolerating that no longer fits?"

Most of us are not afraid of silence because it is empty. We are afraid because it is full.We stay busy on purpose. Podcasts in the car. Music in the shower. Notifications lighting up the quiet moments between tasks. Even exhaustion can feel safer than stillness. At least exhaustion gives us somethi...

"If you’re here right now, not thriving, not collapsing, just continuing, I want to say this clearly:

You are not behind. You are not broken. You are not doing it wrong."

We spend a lot of time talking about beginnings and endings.Fresh starts. Clean slates. Big breakthroughs. And when things fall apart, we talk about closure. Letting go. Moving on.But most of life doesn’t happen at the beginning or the end. It happens in the middle. The middle is where the exciteme...
