To the wonderful former patients of Scottsdale Pediatrics,

I created this page so that I could bring you updates of what my future plans will be. Several of you have been reaching out and asking if those plans are clear as of yet so I thought it would be a good time to update you all.

As you know, when Drs Wallace and Kaye decided to retire and close the practice, I decided that I would take a “sabbatical” so that I could spend more time with family, regroup, and determine where I would like to practice.
What many of you don’t know is that shortly before our practice closed, my husband was diagnosed with a rare and serious type of cancer. I was beyond grateful that I had chosen to take a sabbatical so that I could be his caretaker as he recovered from a major surgery followed by chemotherapy.

As you can imagine, my plans have been placed on hold. At this time, I am not yet ready to fully consider my options for practice as our future remains unclear. I will continue to use this page to update you as to where I land but I do know it will not be in the next couple of months. I know that some of you have been waiting for me (which I really appreciate so much) but due to this turn of events, I would recommend getting your child established with another Pediatrician in the meantime as it is important that you have access to good care. I miss you all and appreciate you so very much!

Take Care,

Dr Hurley

Well, that’s a wrap!🥳😳

20 years with these folks has come to a bittersweet end.🥲🎉
This practice has been my second home and these people, my second family. At times possibly thought of as a dysfunctional family 🤣 but we have weathered highs and lows, births, weddings, illnesses and deaths together. Through it all, we have supported each other and continued to show up every day for our patients.
If you were a part of our practice then you know what it was like. 😉

I will miss all the families who let us in to their lives and allowed us to treat their children but even more, I will miss my work family and all the support they gave me over the years!

P.S: that artwork on the wall was painted freehand by my oldest daughter so it will be hard to leave that too!

Come stop by on Monday February 14th to say good-bye!🥲

Hi there! Welcome to my page. For those of you who do not know me, I am a board certified Pediatrician who has been practicing for 22 years, the last 20 being in Scottsdale, AZ. I treat children from birth through college and am particularly interested in preventative wellness but I have been a general practitioner for the majority of my career.

I received my undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science, Summa cm laude) from the University of CA, San Diego. I then received my MD (Magna cm laude) from St. Louis University. I completed my Pediatric residency at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis and then worked as a Pediatric Hospitalist for 2 years following my graduation from residency. Family brought us out to AZ and soon after relocating, I joined Scottsdale Pediatric Center where I have been practicing for 20 years.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching my patients grow up and even some of them have had children of their own that I have had the privilege to care for (that really makes me old!)! The pandemic coupled with the fact that my 2 associates are of retirement age has led to the difficult decision to close the doors of Scottsdale Pediatric Center after 53 years!

I am not yet sure what the future holds for me but in the meantime I have decided to take a short sabbatical so I can spend time with my family. I will update this page with any announcements of where I land as it becomes clear. For those of you who have been my patients, I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to treat, counsel, and watch your children grow into the incredible adults that they were destined to be. I am honored that you entrusted me with the care of your most valuable possession. I wish you all well and trust that you will be in good hands going forward!

Pfizer COVID 19 vaccine was overwhelmingly recommended by an expert panel for FDA EUA approval for use in children age 5-11. If approved, the vaccine could be available as early as this week. While serious illness or death from COVID 19 has not been common in this age group, COVID 19 has become the 8th highest killer of kids in this age group over the past year. Use of the vaccine is meant to prevent serious illness and death (not necessarily infection) and decrease long term adverse outcomes.
There are definitely a multitude of things to think about when deciding if vaccinating your younger child is the right choice for you. Things you will want to consider are: does your child or anyone in the household have any underlying conditions that puts them (or the family)at risk for severe COVID-19? Do you spend a lot of time with friends or family members that are at risk for serious illness? Can you or your child afford to miss a minimum of 10 days of school/work if they were to become ill? These are just a few of the questions that should be considered.

What questions do you have about vaccination of children?

An expert panel on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly to recommend the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorize the Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11, saying the benefits of the shot outweigh the risks.
