๐Ÿฆต Knee Arthritis & How Electrical Dry Needling Can Help โšก

Knee arthritis is one of the most common sources of chronic knee pain. It occurs when the protective cartilage within the joint begins to wear down, leading to inflammation, stiffness, and painful movement. Many people describe it as a deep, aching pain that worsens with activity or prolonged sitting.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Why does it hurt?
As cartilage thins, the bones within the knee joint experience more friction. This irritation leads to joint inflammation, swelling, and stiffness. Over time, the inflammation itself contributes to further cartilage breakdown โ€” creating a cycle of pain and dysfunction.

โšก Where Electrical Dry Needling Comes In
Electrical dry needling is a powerful treatment that uses fine, sterile needles placed around the knee joint, often combined with gentle electrical stimulation. This treatment works by:
โ€ข Reducing joint inflammation
โ€ข Decreasing pain signals from the joint
โ€ข Improving local circulation for healing
โ€ข Calming overactive muscles that place extra stress on the joint
โ€ข Potentially slowing the progression of cartilage breakdown by interrupting the inflammatory cycle

๐ŸŒŸ Why this matters: By targeting both pain and inflammation at the source, electrical dry needling does more than mask symptoms. It can help you move with greater ease, preserve joint health, and stay active longer โ€” whether your goal is climbing stairs without pain, getting back to the gym, or simply enjoying daily life again.

At GO Physio, we use advanced Fellowship-level training to combine electrical dry needling with manual therapy and personalized exercise programs โ€” addressing the root cause of your knee arthritis and helping you stay ahead of the pain.

๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ Struggling with Chronic Shoulder Pain? Isometrics Might Be the Missing Link

Chronic rotator cuff or biceps tendinopathy that just wonโ€™t go away โ€” even with rest, exercise, and stretching?

๐Ÿ‘‰ Isometric exercises (think: holding a contraction without moving the joint) may offer a powerful way forward.

โœ… Why isometrics?
โ€ข Reduce pain without flaring symptoms
โ€ข Load the tendon in a controlled, low-irritability way
โ€ข Wake up underactive motor pathways that may be โ€œshut downโ€ from chronic pain
โ€ข Serve as a stepping stone to more aggressive strength work

๐Ÿ’ก At GO Physio, we often use isometrics as a โ€œreset toolโ€ โ€” giving stubborn tendons the input they need to start healing again when progress has stalled.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Backed by research. Tailored to you.

๐Ÿ“ Need help breaking the pain cycle? Come see how our Fellowship-trained clinicians use advanced strategies to get you moving again.

๐ŸŒ๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ Golferโ€™s Elbow vs. ๐ŸŽพ Tennis Elbow โ€” whatโ€™s the difference?

Both are forms of tendinopathy, but they affect different tendons and show up on opposite sides of the elbow.

๐Ÿ” Golferโ€™s Elbow (medial epicondylitis):
Pain on the inside of the elbow.
Common with gripping, wrist flexion, or repetitive stress โ€” not just from golfing!

๐Ÿ” Tennis Elbow (lateral epicondylitis):
Pain on the outside of the elbow.
Triggered by activities involving wrist extension, lifting, or repetitive arm movements.

Both conditions involve microtears and inflammation in the tendon where it attaches to the elbow โ€” and both can become chronic if not addressed early.

โœ… Treatment often includes manual therapy, dry needling, progressive loading, and movement retraining.

If youโ€™re dealing with nagging elbow pain, letโ€™s pinpoint the cause and get you on the right recovery plan.

๐Ÿฆถ๐Ÿ”ฅ PLANTAR FASCIITIS: What You Need to Know! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿฆถ

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain, caused by inflammation of the plantar fasciaโ€”the thick band of tissue that supports your arch. Itโ€™s often aggravated by prolonged standing, running, or improper footwear. ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

๐Ÿ” Signs & Symptoms:
โœ… Sharp heel pain, especially in the morning or after rest
โœ… Pain that worsens with prolonged standing or activity
โœ… Tightness in the arch or heel
โœ… Tenderness along the bottom of the foot

๐Ÿ’ช Best Practices for Recovery:

๐Ÿ”น Stretching & Mobility โ€“ Calf stretches, toe stretches, & rolling the foot over a ball to reduce tension.

๐Ÿ”น Strengthening Exercises โ€“ Foot arch exercises, toe curls, & balance drills to improve foot mechanics.

๐Ÿ”น Manual Therapy & Electro-Dry Needling โ€“ Helps relieve tightness, improve circulation, and speed up healing.

๐Ÿ”น Footwear & Support โ€“ Supportive shoes, custom orthotics, and avoiding barefoot walking can help reduce strain.

๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ”ฅ UNDERSTANDING PAIN: ACUTE vs. CHRONIC & MUSCULAR vs. NEUROPATHIC ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’ก

Not all pain is the same! Knowing the type of pain youโ€™re experiencing is crucial for finding the right treatment and recovery plan. ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ” Acute vs. Chronic Pain

โžก๏ธ Acute Pain:
โœ… Short-term (lasts days to weeks)
โœ… Caused by injury, surgery, or trauma
โœ… Sharp, sudden onset
โœ… Resolves as healing occurs
โœ… Best managed with early movement, manual therapy, & rehab exercises

โžก๏ธ Chronic Pain:
โœ… Long-term (persists for 3+ months)
โœ… Can result from nerve damage, inflammation, or past injuries
โœ… Dull, aching, or burning pain
โœ… Often linked to movement compensations & muscle imbalances
โœ… Best managed with structured rehab, dry needling, strength training, & lifestyle modifications

๐Ÿ” Muscular vs. Neuropathic Pain

โžก๏ธ Muscular Pain:
โœ… Caused by muscle strain, tightness, or overuse
โœ… Localized, sore, or aching pain
โœ… Improves with stretching, strengthening, & manual therapy
โœ… Common in sports injuries, postural imbalances, & repetitive strain

โžก๏ธ Neuropathic Pain:
โœ… Caused by nerve damage, irritation, or compression
โœ… Burning, tingling, or shooting pain
โœ… Can be chronic & persistent
โœ… Common in sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, & nerve entrapments
โœ… Best managed with nerve glides, electro-dry needling, manual therapy, & movement retraining

๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME: What You Need to Know! ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) occurs when the median nerve in your wrist gets compressed, leading to pain, numbness, and weakness in the hand. Itโ€™s common in those who type, lift, or grip frequently! ๐Ÿ˜–

๐Ÿ” Signs & Symptoms:
โœ… Numbness & tingling (thumb, index, middle fingers)
โœ… Weak grip strength & dropping objects
โœ… Wrist pain, especially at night
โœ… Hand stiffness or clumsiness

๐Ÿ’ช Best Practices for Recovery:

๐Ÿ”น Stretching & Mobility โ€“ Gentle wrist stretches, nerve glides, & finger exercises to improve flexibility & reduce stiffness.

๐Ÿ”น Strengthening Exercises โ€“ Grip strengthening, wrist curls, & resistance band exercises to restore function & prevent recurrence.

๐Ÿ”น Manual Therapy & Electro-Dry Needling โ€“ Helps relieve nerve compression, reduce pain, & improve circulation.

๐Ÿ”น Ergonomic Adjustments โ€“ Proper wrist positioning, supportive braces, & reducing repetitive strain can help prevent worsening symptoms.

๐Ÿฆถ๐Ÿ’ฅ ANKLE SPRAINS: What You Need to Know! ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿฆถ

Ankle sprains happen when the ligaments supporting your ankle get stretched or tornโ€”usually from rolling or twisting your ankle. ๐Ÿ˜ฃ Ignoring them can lead to chronic instability & future injuries!

๐Ÿ” Signs & Symptoms:
โœ… Pain & swelling
โœ… Bruising & tenderness
โœ… Difficulty bearing weight
โœ… Limited range of motion

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Best Practices for Recovery โ€“ Follow the MEAT Method! ๐Ÿฅฉ

๐Ÿ”น M โ€“ Movement: Move early! Gentle motion (ankle circles, toe flexion) prevents stiffness & promotes healing. Start weight-bearing as tolerated.

๐Ÿ”น E โ€“ Exercise: Strengthen & stabilize with isometrics, resistance bands, & balance drills (single-leg stance, BOSU ball).

๐Ÿ”น A โ€“ Analgesia: Skip NSAIDs! Opt for dry needling, soft tissue work, manual therapy, compression, quality sleep, & anti-inflammatory foods.

๐Ÿ”น T โ€“ Treatment: Manual therapy, joint mobilization, dry needling, & functional rehab help restore mobility & prevent re-injury.

๐Ÿšจ If your ankle sprain isnโ€™t improving, we can help! ๐Ÿฅ
