Only 3 spots left! Blooming Hope Infertility Group starting Soon -Jan 22! 8-week Workshop

A place to cry and laugh with women who "get it"
Lisa was left heartbroken and angry — not least at herself. “When the first cycle didn’t work, I thought, OK, maybe it’s one of the medications and I had a weird reaction to it. But when the second cycle didn’t work, I began to think, No, there is something wrong with me. I was crushed. I wondered, Why is my body betraying me? Why won’t it do what it is supposed to do?”

If this sounds like you and you have been experiencing intense emotions surrounding your journey to motherhood then Blooming Hope may be a great group for you or someone you care about. It's also a great fit for women who have never received a positive pregnancy test, those who get pregnant easily but have experienced repeated miscarriage, and moms who were lucky to get pregnant once but have been unsuccessful with a 2nd pregnancy in order to grow their family.

Anyone else never get anyone on the phone to make an appt? I have called several times over several weeks and left a message, but I never got a returned call. I have a referral from my OB that I am still waiting to go for an HSG exam...I see so many great reviews and would like to stick with this team.

"I can't thank Dr. Behera and the staff at Bloom enough. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 18-years-old (currently 31) and was told then that if I wanted to have biological children, I needed to have them now. Who tells an 18-year-old that?! Fast-forward to 10 years later, my husband and I started trying on our own but knowing that maybe we would need some help. We took the "proper" steps but found ourselves sitting in Dr. Behera's office. We originally agreed to only have 2 IUI's because of how severe my endometriosis was and how much pain ovulation caused me. Unfortunately, I was not pregnant after 2 IUI's but what was happening was that my left o***y was the one that ovulated both times and that was my "bad" o***y. It was covered in endometriosis and it was hard to know if it was producing healthy eggs. We found ourselves back in Dr. Behera's office to talk about next steps, knowing she was only okay with allowing me 2 IUI's before IVF (my endometriosis was progressing very quickly with the hormones). Thankfully, she listened to me when I asked for a 3rd, and final round, of IUI to allow my right o***y to ovulate. I honestly don't think my body could handle IVF with how much pain I am in during ovulation so she agreed. She listened to me and my concerns and guess what, I got pregnant for the first time ever on our 3rd IUI. I am still shocked I got pregnant with IUI when I was told by many physicians that my chances of pregnancy were less than 1%. I now have the most beautiful and healthy 5-month-old daughter and I wouldn't if it wasn't for Dr. Behera, Tamara NP, and the Bloom team. I can't wait to introduce her to the amazing ladies who held my hand and gave me hope during the most difficult time in my life and have them see what beautiful life they helped my husband and me create. So, look no further if you're looking for an amazing reproductive endocrinologist and team who treats you as a whole person." --Brandy R.

FERTILITY FACT FRIDAY: Infertility Affects Men Just as Much as Women⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We often hear more about female fertility challenges than male. This can be for a variety of reasons. Many women, particularly in recent years, are more open about their struggles with fertility and conception with other women who may also be struggling. It could also be the fact that the woman is the one who physically carries the baby, so her body is under more scrutiny.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whatever the reason, it’s important to know that men and women contribute equally to fertility problems. In any given couple there’s an even chance that it’s a male factor, female factor, or even a combination of both. In some cases, infertility is even unexplained.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

MYTH OR FACT: Lifting your legs in the air for 20 minutes after having s*x will help you get pregnant⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
MYTH!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While this may sound like a good idea in theory — the logic being that this will tip your pelvis and help your man’s little swimmers get a direct route to your eggs — all it will probably do is make your legs go numb from all the blood rushing away from your feet.

"We were having a hard time getting pregnant and previously experienced a loss, so we finally decided to reach out to Bloom. After having my first consultation with Tamara Evans NP, I surprisingly became pregnant naturally so I didn't need to pursue fertility testing. Tamara was very attentive to my concerns and monitored my pregnancy until I could meet with my new OB. It is really hard to find medical care this personable and professional. I met with Dr. Behera as well and she was so friendly and kind. You can tell Tamara Evans and Millie Behera both care so much for their patients.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I highly recommend the providers at Bloom. This was the best medical care I have experienced. For any woman in search of a caring team, you can't go wrong with anyone at Bloom, and if you have a chance to work with Tamara you should." - Elizabeth G⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What is Endometrial Scratching? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Endometrial scratching is a technique used to improve the ability of an embryo to implant in the uterus after in-vitro fertilization. It involves superficially wounding the lining of the womb, in order to improve the receptivity of the uterus to the embryo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It essentially creates a perfect little spot for the embryo to nestle in and stick for the next 9 months.

Eating dark green veggies like spinach, kale, and Swiss chard is one of the best ways to take in essential prenatal nutrients like calcium, iron (especially important when you’re menstruating), and folate, which also protects against birth defects in the brain and spine that can develop in the first few weeks of pregnancy! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Today we are talking IVF meds 💊💉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are numerous types of fertility drugs are used during IVF, some taken orally and others injected. The exact drug and dosage used during IVF depends on a patient’s age, test results, and the stimulation protocol prescribed by her physician and IVF coordinator.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A typical IVF treatment may involve a mix of the following medications...here is a quick breakdown of what they are and what they do:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Gonadotropins: Injectable hormones used to increase the development of a woman’s eggs, follicles (the sac-like structures where eggs mature), and estrogen levels prior to ovulation.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG): An injection of hCG is used during IVF to trigger the release of the mature egg(s) after a woman’s follicles have developed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH): FSH spurs the development and growth of eggs in a woman’s ovaries. It is also sometimes used to stimulate s***m production in men.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogs (antagonists and agonists): Work by preventing premature ovulation and are typically prescribed in combination with other hormones (FSH and hCG). By delaying ovulation, GnRH analogs increase the chance of a woman producing fertile eggs and prevent the release of eggs before an egg retrieval occurs.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Doxycycline: Oral antibiotic decreases the chance of a bacterial infection to both partners involved in IVF treatment.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Baby aspirin: Studies show that taking aspirin may increase circulation to the uterus and ovaries, preventing blood clots and reducing miscarriages.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Prenatal vitamins and folic acid: Maintaining a healthy level of vitamins prior to and during pregnancy greatly reduces the chance of birth defects.
