Dr. Strohman’s Passion
Dr. Lisa Strohman, clinical psychologist, attorney, and author, established Digital Citizen Academy to proactively prevent and educate students, educators and parents on the issues resulting from technology use. This was a passion built out of her time with the FBI working in the profiling unit as a visiting scholar during the Columbine tragedy.
Digital Citizen Academy offers specific grade specific education and prevention programs to directly address the challenges children are facing daily through technology. Modules are designed to communicate research-based content to each grade on topics such as digital citizenship, cyberbullying, gaming, and more. The program is designed to empower children to regain their voice through tools and resources created to educate, inspire and empower them to become leaders in this technology-driven world.
Schools and organizations have access to prevention and education modules, which allow them to monitor results and track data. A DCA diversion program is also available as a disciplinary option for students that are not demonstrating responsible digital citizen behaviors and/or adhering to school/community rules and policies. The goals is to remind leaders in this space: Parents, educators, community members and others that we all make mistakes and children will as well. With education and a trauma-informed approach to those mistakes children make, Digital Citizen Academy creates a safer future for generations of kids that join the online culture.
