This Women's History Month, meet Breeanna Hamilton—our Oregon Lab Director who's been keeping things running smoothly since 2017! 🔬💚

Breeanna came to SC Labs with a biology degree, looking for lab work in an emerging industry. Nine years later, she's gone from Santa Cruz team member to leading our entire Oregon lab team.

What makes her leadership special? She's all about organization and creating an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions.

When she's not reviewing data or releasing COAs, she's hiking, reading, and spending time with her 2-year-old (with another little one on the way this April!).

We asked how she defines success. Her answer? "Achieving happiness."

From barista to cannabis testing Account Manager—Traci Tift's career path is anything but ordinary! ☕➡️🌿

Traci just celebrated 8 years with SC Labs. She started as a receptionist in Santa Cruz, drawn by her passion for cannabis testing. That curiosity turned into commitment, and commitment turned into a thriving career.

Today, as an Account Manager, Traci is who our California clients depend on for answers, support, and top-tier service. Her approach? "Always strive to provide timely answers and A+ service."

Her advice for anyone starting out: "Stick with it and put yourself out there to learn as much as you can! Experience can be even more important than education in many cases."

Oh, and she's our reigning Halloween costume champion for her spot-on impression of coworker Jeff Dingman—drawn-on beard and all. 🎃😂

Kudos to Vanessa from SC Labs AZ. 💚

Nine months ago, Vanessa Snyder joined SC Labs for one reason: the people.

Turns out, she was right about them.

Vanessa is an Account Executive covering USA H**p and beyond—serving clients across the entire country from her home base in Wisconsin. She's spent her whole career in third-party testing, studied Dietetics at UW–Madison, and has a way of showing up for clients that feels less like a sales call and more like a conversation with someone who genuinely understands your business.

Her definition of success? The perfect balance of work + self + family…and she's building it. One national park trip, one music festival, and one toddler movie marathon at a time. ✨

This Women's History Month, we're celebrating Vanessa and the problem-solving, people-first energy she brings to our team and to this industry every day.

The AZ lab is here for this Erika Menesini appreciation post. 🌵 An MBA, years in cannabis testing, and somehow also a thriving backyard wildlife situation with loyal herons. She's the real deal. Happy Women's History Month! 💚

Some people fall into their career. Erika Menesini built hers—deliberately, and from a lot of different directions.

She's been an Account Executive at SC Labs for 3.5 years and in cannabis lab testing since 2018. Before that: government affairs, law enforcement, an MBA, and a stretch of time that included over 80 college units in a single year while raising kids and working nights as an emergency dispatcher.

These days, Erika's definition of success is calm. Contentment. A good balance between work, family, and the things she loves—including a backyard wildlife sanctuary complete with beehives, native gardens, and three pairs of great herons who keep coming back. (She is very invested in the baby herons. We respect it.)

Happy Women's History Month, Erika. 🌿

Proud to be part of the SC Labs team and to work alongside leaders like Shenequia. Her experience and leadership help support labs like ours every day.

Women’s History Month Spotlight: Today we’re celebrating Shenequia Cotton, VP of Finance at SC Labs.

With more than 30 years of experience in accounting, Shenequia brings deep expertise and steady leadership to our team. Over the past three years at SC Labs, she’s helped support the financial foundation that keeps our labs, teams, and operations moving forward.

Before joining SC Labs, Shenequia worked as a Controller in the manufacturing industry. While the cannabis testing space was new to her, she embraced the opportunity to learn something new and expand her skillset.

What she enjoys most about her role? The people. She credits the SC Labs team’s willingness to go the extra mile as a key part of the company’s success.

Her advice for those starting their careers: Stay open to change, keep learning, and never be afraid to take on more.

Outside of work, Shenequia enjoys tackling jigsaw puzzles and has a lifelong love of music and singing, inspired by her musical family.

We’re grateful for the leadership and experience she brings to SC Labs every day.

This Women’s History Month, we’re proud to spotlight Sam (Samantha) Schumann, the Lab Director of our Denver laboratory and a leader who has helped shape our team for the past eight years.

Sam’s role blends leadership, mentorship, and hands-on science. Her mornings begin in the lab checking that instruments ran smoothly overnight before connecting with team members to see where support might be needed. Despite leading the lab, Sam still enjoys jumping in on the bench—whether that’s weighing samples, reviewing data, or helping solve a tricky instrumentation issue.

Before joining SC Labs, Sam worked as a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry. She was drawn to the company because it offered a place to expand her analytical expertise while being part of a team that prioritizes quality and data integrity.

Today, one of the most fulfilling aspects of her job is mentoring newer scientists. With a natural mechanical mindset, Sam enjoys walking teammates through troubleshooting challenges and helping them build confidence with complex lab systems.

Outside the lab, Sam loves traveling and experiencing new cultures around the world. But for her, success ultimately comes down to something simple: achieving personal goals and maintaining a healthy, stable home life with her family.

We’re incredibly grateful for Sam’s leadership, knowledge, and dedication to science.

Right now, Women in H**p is meeting with policymakers in Washington, DC to advocate for sensible federal regulation of h**p beverages. The focus: 21+ access, consumer safety, labeling clarity, and practical oversight as a responsible alternative to outright prohibition.

SC Labs’ Vanessa Snyder is in DC as part of the delegation, supporting constructive, science-informed dialogue around the industry’s path forward.

We’ll share updates as things continue to take shape.

A milestone for h**p beverages—and a reminder that greater visibility brings greater scrutiny.

Chicago’s United Center is set to sell h**p-derived THC drinks at live events, signaling how quickly this category is going mainstream. With potential federal changes looming, brands and venues need to stay ahead on formulation, labeling, and defensible testing to reduce risk and protect consumer trust.

At SC Labs, we encourage brands to test beyond the bare minimum…not as a checkbox, but as a way to build long-term credibility for the category.
