What a day!!! 😩 The neighbor’s had been complaining that my cat has have been meowing & wont stop so I bought a humane citronella collar..so when he meowed, it shoots a blast of citronella under his nose and apparently they don't like it.

So this morning I was getting the collar ready and filled it with the citronella liquid. And that's where my morning should have ended. But noo, it's me, and I begin to become curious as to “how” the collars actually work.

So I'm standing on my back porch "meowing " at this collar. Nothing happens. I make sure it's turned on, check the fill level, and go through the "getting started" check list one more time. Again, I meow. Nothing happens. Now I'm not quite sure, why I had this next thought, but I did...I put the collar on. I seriously extended the band and fit the box against my throat and meowed really loud. Apparently, the collar only works if it feels vibrations, because I immediately received a blast of citronella to the face!! 😳 💩😤😩😳

I began coughing, which only caused the ###'ing collar to continue squirting bug spray over and over into my nasal cavity. I'm now on my hands and knees in my back yard, trying to breathe, and to make matters worse, the damn cat is meowing. 😏 So between coughing and yelling at him to shut up, I’d emptied over a half dozen blasts of citronella to my face. During all of this ruckus, I'm trying to undo the clasp of the collar in which my fingers can’t squeeze it open during this whole fiasco!!

I finally get the collar off and threw, yes I threw that inhumane xc'er across the yard, and lay in the dirt, sucking in the cool and wet dirt!!! In the middle of thinking this is probably the dumbest thing I've done in a while, I hear laughter. MY NEIGHBOR SAW THE WHOLE THING! She was laughing so damn hard she couldn't breathe. Embarrassed and feeling like I’m dying I get into the house my eyes and face are red, and I got into shower so I wouldn't smell like ode de' Tiki Torch. 😟💩😤😩😳

Lesson learned: next time (yes, there will always be a next time with me) make sure that:
1. Don't fill the collar before trying to set it off.
2. Remember your neighbor is not a good source of help in such an emergency

#7) 10/11/25: we woke up for breakfast & then went to the Gorilla Trekking at the UWA Ruhija Tourism sector. We first experienced a dance performed by the village ladies to welcome us. Then were separated into our individual groups of 8 people. Our gorilla family was KYAGURIRO family. Our main guard was Festo, Emma & Vian were our porters (carried our backpacks, & helped us climb up & down the slopes of the jungle to find the gorillas. We trekked for 2 hours up & down the mountain with the guide ahead cutting down the brush for us to pass.
Without our porters we would never have made it! Definitely strenuous, but an experience of a lifetime 💜

“To the parent friends who have texted me to ask about today’s “announcement”, please see below.
Thank you to our Neonatal colleagues who have weighed in on this very important discussion 💜

Tylenol did not cause your child to be autistic. Autism isn’t caused by Tylenol, or vaccines, or “heavy metals”, or an ultra processed diet. The announcement today was always part of RFKs agenda. The science is clear.

To my pregnant friends and friends of pregnant friends…please do NOT tough it out, especially if you have a fever during pregnancy. Fever alone in pregnancy is a teratogen (causes malformation of an embryo). Prolonged fever in early pregnancy leads to miscarriage, stillbirth, neural tube defects, cleft lip and palate, and damage to the developing nervous system. Please listen to your OB/MFM/pediatrician or friendly neighborhood neonatologist. Treat your fevers in pregnancy with Tylenol because we don’t want to see you go through a stillbirth or have a malformed baby.

And please do not substitute ibuprofen (Motrin) in its place- it is not safe in pregnancy and can cause major heart defects!
