🖊Today, Dr. Steinhauer, TAPD's Legislative Director, testified at HHSC's rate hearing on new CDT anesthesia and sedation codes — and the numbers tell a urgent story.

Medicaid patients in Texas are waiting an average of 3.5 months just to access care in operating rooms. One major reason? Low reimbursement rates for anesthesia are pushing providers out of the Medicaid program. When providers can't afford to stay, patients pay the price — with their health and their time.

That's why TAPD is urging HHSC to adopt increased reimbursement rates. Fair rates mean more providers can serve Medicaid patients, and more patients get the timely care they deserve.
