Huge win for acupuncturists — but most importantly, for patients!
A large NIH-funded study, published in the prestigious JAMA Network Open, found that acupuncture was more effective than standard medical care alone for relieving pain and improving function in adults 65 and older with chronic low back pain, and without the side effects of medications.
And the cherry on top, the article states that acupuncture may become a first-line therapy for this condition.
I never doubted this day would come, it was only a matter of time before research caught up with what we see in the clinic every day.
This randomized clinical trial assesses the effectiveness of acupuncture needling (both a standard course and additional maintenance sessions) for older adults with chronic low back pain.
