The first woman to coach a base in the big leagues at tonight’s Giant’s game - Let’s go Giants 🙌🏻⚾️
The AZ Sports Medicine team is rooting for our local United Premier Soccer League team, Olympians FC as they compete for the national championship today in Atlanta, GA. #PlayHard... we will continue to take care of the rest when you get home.
Join Dr. Dean tonight as the Giants play the Dodgers! Yes there are still tickets available on line. Remember the feeling of a Spring Training game? Oh what fun!!🙌🏻⚾️
Whatever love looks like for you we hope you take today to enjoy it💕
Whether your team won last night or not, or you watched for the commercials, or the half time show, or the seven layer dip, it didn’t really matter did it? Wasn’t it just nice to say the normal words “Super Bowl Sunday”? The brighter days are peaking through!🌟 Go out and PLAY HARD! .... We’ll take care of the rest.
If you are a patient, employee, or follower, of our practice, we probably don’t have to explain to you why we know that youth sports builds more than just an athletic kid. We know it’s been hard keeping your kids in the games they love during these challenging times and we just want to say hang in there and good job. There’s been cancellations, postponements, team quarantines, and challenges no one could ever have imagined but in the end our young athletes will come out stronger and wiser team players than they ever would have alone. Imagine if they were never on a team or working towards a goal during this pandemic to begin with. By giving them the gift of sports they have been given a respite of mental escape and a physical outlet. Two important factors for better over all mental health 🧡💙 PLAY HARD... We’ll take care of the rest!

What is Wednesday?
What is patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS)?
Also known as “Runner’s knee,” PFPS is an irritation of the front of the knee joint between the knee cap (patella) and the thigh bone (femur). This can be caused by repetitive bending of the knee (running, jumping, kicking), a fall on the knee, or the way the kneecap moves, called “patellar maltracking.”
PFPS is very common in young, female athletes, but can happen in any age, gender, or activity level. It is commonly treated through muscle strengthening, flexibility, and balancing exercises (physical therapy), but can also be treated with bracing, change in footwear, injections, or even surgery.
All our physicians at AZ Sports Medicine are well versed in caring for PFPS and many other knee issues, as well as a wide variety of other bone, muscle, and joint conditions. If your knee is keeping you from doing what you love to do. Let us do the work, so you can worry about how you are going to #PlayHard.
Call 480-889-1838 for an appointment with any of our physicians.

Does your athlete require a sports physical?
While it remains unclear exactly what school and sports will look like as this 2020-2021 school year kicks off, you will need to double check if your athlete requires a new pre-participation exam/sports physical. #AZSportsMedicine can provide your athlete with a current physical and sports clearance, often same day or next day!
Most athletes will be able to use their 2019-2020 physical (if one was completed and on file with their school) UNLESS any of the following occurred since their last physical:
-any concussion
-any new medical diagnosis
-infection with COVID-19
-an injury or illness requiring evaluation by an outside medical provider.
If your athlete meets any of the above criteria OR they do not have a 2019-2020 PPE on file with their school, make sure to double check the requirements to be sure your athlete will be cleared to play when sports resume.
Call us to schedule an appointment 480-889-1838.
Details on the AIA requirements for pre-participation guidelines can be found in section I, paragraph D of the AIA Recommended Guidelines for Returning to Athletic Activity found here:
