Literacy and reading skills help lay the foundation for living an independent life.​

While individuals with Down syndrome face inherent challenges when it comes to reading, our 1:1 Literacy Tutoring Program helps them overcome these challenges!​

But we need your help! On average, we can only match 50% of our participants because we don't have enough tutors, but you can help change this!​

As a tutor, you can help someone reach their full potential!​

And we make tutoring simple—just commit to as little as one hour a week, and we’ll work around your schedule!​

"You did it. You did it all by yourself." ​

This incredible moment comes from , capturing her daughter Addie, a first-year college student with Down syndrome, arriving in San Diego after her first solo flight from Tampa. ​

Moments like this show just how capable and independent individuals with Down syndrome can be.​

At GiGi’s Playhouse, we believe in that potential and provide free educational, therapeutic, and career programs to help individuals like Addie keep checking goals off their bucket list.​

Sometimes you have an unexpected experience that takes you back and reminds you of timeless heroes whose missions are always “for the good”! Now to be able to meet Riley, a true Superhero, was POW!

The secret BATMAN Crime Fighting Cave was where we met.

When you meet a Superhero face to face, they look just like all of us. They smile a lot and have family and friends that love them. No capes, no masks, but they are leaders that are here among us to do good.

GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix was chosen to receive a donation from the Colten Cowell Foundation and delivered to us by our Superhero, Riley.

But how did Riley know about GiGi’s?

He didn’t. He knew his grandmother, GiGi, was one of those very special people in his life and through his Superhero intellect, he figured that with a name like GiGi’s, we must also be very special.

Thank you, Riley. Thank you, Colten Cowell Foundation . Thank you, Mr. Wayne (aka. BATMAN) and thank you GiGi for unknowingly becoming one of our Superheroes that invests in all our Superheroes that come to GiGi’s Playhouse every day.

Our GiGi’s Playhouse Superheroes don’t wear capes or masks either but also work “for the good” … just like Riley.

During the conference, our network shared strategies, celebrated successes, and strengthened the skills and relationships that help GiGi’s Playhouse continue to grow and give a voice to EVERY individual with Down syndrome.​

But what does it take to be a tutor? If you are willing to teach for 1 hour a week, you can make an incredible impact on one of our participants. It's THAT simple! ​
