Looking for a winter evening that feels extra special?

At the Livingston-Backus Dinner, you’ll spend the night inside one of the Village’s most elegant historic homes, gathering for a candlelit, multi-course dinner in the upper rooms of the Livingston-Backus House. Between courses, you’ll learn about the history of the home and the people who once lived there.

The evening’s menu features a thoughtfully prepared, multi-course meal, including dishes like baked brie with apples and honey, coq au vin with mashed parsnips and potatoes, and a chocolate tartufo to finish. The bar offers pre-Prohibition–era cocktails, historic beers, and wine selections to complement the meal.

🗓 Friday & Saturday, January 30 & 31
⏰ 5–7:30 p.m.

We’re proud to share that Genesee Country Village & Museum has been named a 2025–2026 Microgrant recipient by The Livestock Conservancy.

This national recognition supports our ongoing work caring for and interpreting historic livestock breeds. With this microgrant, we’ll be able to modernize how we track and manage livestock records, helping our staff record breeding, health, and care information more efficiently and accurately in real time.

We’re honored to be one of just four national recipients selected from more than 150 applicants across the country. Support like this helps ensure that rare and endangered livestock breeds continue to be cared for, studied, and shared with the public as part of our living history landscape.

Thank you to The Livestock Conservancy for investing in the future of these important breeds and the institutions working to protect them.

A roof can change the whole feel of a home. Here’s a recent installation from start to finish, the sharp final results, a significant boost in curb appeal, and the kind of protection you want before the next round of snow and wind hits.

The Nature Center is open and ready for winter exploring.

Step inside to meet our resident turtles, learn about local wildlife, and take a quiet moment to watch birds at the feeders. When you’re ready to head outside, the trails offer a peaceful way to experience the season, with views of wetlands, woods, and open fields that look a little different in winter light.

Whether you’re stopping in to warm up, heading out for a walk, or just curious about the plants and animals that call this place home, the Nature Center is a great place to linger during your visit.

Eggs are not being laid regularly at this time so there are none for sale. Hoping that changes in a few weeks. Thank you all!
