Informed choices during birth arenât about having all the answers⌠theyâre about knowing you have options đ¤
As a birth doula, my role isnât to make decisions for you, itâs to help you understand whatâs being offered, why itâs being offered, and how it aligns with your values and vision for your birth.
Because hereâs the truth:
Every choice in birth should be yours.
⨠You deserve to ask questions
⨠You deserve time to think (when possible)
⨠You deserve to say yes, no, or ânot right nowâ
⨠You deserve to feel confident in the decisions you make
A helpful tool I often share with my clients is the B.R.A.I.N. acronym:
đ§ Benefits â What are the benefits of this option?
â ď¸ Risks â What are the risks?
đ Alternatives â Are there other options?
đ Intuition â What feels right to you?
âł Nothing â What happens if we wait or do nothing?
Birth can feel fast-paced and overwhelming, but informed consent is not a luxury, itâs your right.
When you feel informed, supported, and heard⌠your birth experience becomes something you own, not something that just happens to you.
And that is powerful. đŤ
