👁️ Low Vision Awareness Month Begins This Sunday 👁️

This month, we’re shining a light on low vision, with a special focus on age-related macular degeneration. Living with impaired vision can make everyday tasks more challenging and may impact independence—but support and solutions are available.

UCP of NEPA is proud to partner with TechOwl to help individuals maintain their independence through innovative Electronic Braille Display technology. These devices can help you read and create notes, send emails, browse the Internet, and so much more.

Best of all, you can try these products firsthand, see if they’re the right fit for you, and discover tools that support your independence and confidence.

✨ Don’t wait to explore your options!
📞 Contact our Assistive Technology Resource Center at 570-347-3357, ext. 32

📚❄️ How about that snowstorm?!?! We hope your storm preparation made these past two days manageable!!! UCP of NEPA consumer, Nicole, was ready!

Before the big snowfall arrived, Nicole made a stop at the library to stock up on books! We're sure she was all set with plenty of reading material to stay cozy, entertained, and inspired while the snow came down. We love seeing our consumers plan ahead and enjoy the simple joys of a good book! Smart thinking, Nicole! ❄️

💙✨ A beautiful step toward inclusion ✨💙

UCP of NEPA is celebrating Mattel Inc.’s introduction of an autistic Barbie doll—a meaningful new addition to the iconic Barbie legacy and its long-standing commitment to representation and inclusion. Developed in partnership with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, this newest member of the Barbie Fashionistas line was thoughtfully designed to reflect the many ways autistic people may experience and process the world around them.

Representation matters. When children see themselves reflected in the toys they play with, it helps build understanding, acceptance, and pride. We applaud Mattel for listening, learning, and creating a doll that honors neurodiversity and celebrates individuality. 💫🧩
