Our deepest condolences are with the DeViva family as it was our privilege to have been able to provide comfort care for Frank in his time of need.

🙏🏻Frank I. DeViva, 64, passed away after a long illness on Oct. 9, 2025, at Allied Hospice, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Glen Cove on Long Island, N.Y., Frank was the son of Frank DeViva and Eva (Betancourt) DeViva. Along with his older sister Susan, Frank and his family first lived in Queens, New York, before moving to Coram in Suffolk County.

Frank often said that growing up on Long Island in the 1970s was the best place to be. Spending summers on the island's many beaches, hopping on the Port Jeff train to see concerts in the city and surrounded by friends in Coram's "W section," it was there that he met his best friend and future wife, Patty (Tierney). Married in 1983, they raised three children together, and shared six grandchildren, Sara DeViva (husband Mike Koehler, son Leo, daughter Cora); Lisa MacKenzie (sons Balin and Dante); and Frank J. DeViva (wife Carley, daughter Olivia, son Frank Gabriel).

Frank was a gifted student, and after graduation from Newfield High School in Selden, N.Y., he received a full scholarship to study actuarial science at The College of Insurance in Manhattan (now St. John's University). However, his entrepreneurial spirit and love of baking pulled him in another direction. He worked in and opened bakeries on Long Island, before moving to Ithaca to manage the bakery at Wegmans Food Market.

It was a position at Wegmans in Wilkes-Barre that brought Frank and his family to Northeast Pennsylvania in 1994, where he worked for 10 years. During that time, he and wife Patty continued their education at King's College, graduating together in May 2001. Frank earned a B.S. in computer information systems with a GPA of 4.0, summa cm laude, and received the Award for the Highest Academic Achievement.

In 2004, Frank returned to his entrepreneurial roots and opened Bakehouse Bakery & Cafe in Kingston. At Bakehouse, he used his lifetime knowledge of baking and love of good food to create a spot that was beloved by the community for 14 years. During that time, he partnered with and supported many organizations, including Wyoming Seminary's Performing Arts Institute, where he established a full scholarship each summer for a student in need. Frank was grateful to all the customers who over the years became friends, and where he was happiest — baking bagels and artisan breads for the community.

Above all else, Frank was a man of faith, and he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. Invariably, when asked by his customers at Bakehouse how he was, he'd say "lovin' life." And he sure did.

In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Frank is survived by his mother, Eva DeViva, Wyoming; and sister, Susan Evans (husband Bob, children Olivia and Eric), Rocky Hill, Conn. A private family gathering was held, and a celebration of Frank's life will be scheduled at a future date.

She also managed the trucking business owned by her and Matthew prior to his untimely death.

Amy was a carefree spirit known for her sense of humor, a loyal daughter, mother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing games, doing art projects, camping and hiking in the mountains of Utah and snuggling with her beloved cat, Mooshie. Amy’s involvement with her Belegarth community contributed significantly to her overall happiness and brough her great joy. She deeply cherished her best friend, Cheyenne, who had become a sister to her from the time they first met while in elementary school.

Amy devoted the past few years of her life by returning to her childhood home to help care for her aging parents along with her brother and sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew, her grandparents, and her uncle, Dominic Pompey.

Amy is survived by her parents, John and Barbara Pompey, her children: John Jones (fiancé Courtney Burns), Tristan Jones (fiancé Sadie (Fearless) Long), and Lucas Jones; her brother, James Pompey (Lori); her sister Victoria Hyatt (Martin); her aunt, Judy Pompey; uncle Edward Pompey (Marlene), her nieces, nephew, great nephews, great niece, cousins and many friends. She will be missed by many but her memory will continue.

The family would like to thank the Allied Hospice care team for the compassion and kindness they displayed during Amy’s short tenure there.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in Amy’s memory.
