Elan’s head of clinical operations Gina McCabe recently launched a "Beads for Deeds" program for the nursing leadership team. Nursing leaders are nominated by their peers when they witness an exceptional on-the-job performance. Different colored beads are awarded, which represent different desirable attributes for nursing leaders. Once earned, the beads are proudly displayed on a ring attached to the employee badge. 🌟

“The purpose of the Beads for Deeds program is to foster positive recognition for exemplary service to residents, staff or the facility while demonstrating the organization's commitment to excellence,” said McCabe. “It is an inexpensive yet meaningful program that improves staff morale, fosters respect among coworkers, and improves relationships, thus fostering a supportive work environment that can lead to increased employee and resident satisfaction.”

To draw attention to this important topic, staff from Elan and DaVita Kidney Care are handing out sweet treats and wearing cute “Nephrology is My Jam” shirts.

Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehab is excited to partner with Dr. Ryan M. Sutton from Geisinger Scranton Orthopedics and Sports Medicine on a series of educational events on campus and at the JCC. Dr. Sutton specializes in hip and knee care, offering minimally invasive and robotic‑assisted options designed to reduce pain and speed up healing. 💙🩺

The first event will take place at the JCC on Friday, March 13 at 10:30 AM in the Wellness Café.

March is Careers in Aging Month, and Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehab is thrilled to announce a unique partnership with Abington Kids Creative Learning Center that will give children the opportunity to explore careers in aging services and STEM, all while developing empathy, confidence, and leadership skills. 🌟

Abington’s Imagination Station is an interactive, large-scale play facility that will encourage children to connect, learn, and grow. Through Elan’s Med-Bridge initiative, young learners will be introduced to the world of healthcare and service through hands-on play, inspiring them to one day become nurses, social workers, doctors, and other compassionate professionals. 🩵🩺
