It was a beautiful day on Saturday for the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA at PNC Field in Moosic! A heartfelt thank you to Team Elan, Congressman Rob Bresnahan, Rep. Kyle Mullins, Dr. Latif, and Brian Hughes from WILK Newsradio for walking with us — and to all the families and friends affected by Alzheimer's who continue to inspire us every day. Together, we walked for awareness, support, and hope! 💜

According to organizers, more than 700 walkers attended the event and raised more than $111,000 to advance care, support, and research that directly impacts families across Northeast Pennsylvania. Alzheimer's Association- Greater PA Chapter

Earlier today, Elan Director of Human Services Missy Bednar appeared on WNEP’s morning news alongside Alzheimer’s Association executive leadership and other supporters to promote the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA, happening this Saturday, Oct. 18 in Moosic.

As a proud sponsor of this meaningful event, Elan will host the onsite Connections Café — a welcoming space where walk attendees can share stories and make real connections. Whether you’re looking to speak with someone from the Alzheimer’s Association or an Elan team member, information and resources will be available for caregivers or anyone affected by Alzheimer's Disease.

Earlier this month, Elan’s Director of Marketing and Admissions Missy Bednar, AAA’s Kareliz Nin, and Alzheimer's Association- Greater PA Chapter Development Manager Dick Smith joined WILK Newsradio's Brian Hughes to talk about the upcoming Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which is happening Oct. 18 at PNC Field in Moosic.

Held in over 600 cities every year, the Walk to End Alzheimer's raises critical funds to provide 24/7 care and support and advance research toward prevention, treatment and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease. Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehab will once again sponsor and host a team for the event.

Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, begins this evening at sundown. A central feature of Sukkot is the construction of the sukkah, a temporary structure that celebrates the autumn harvest and commemorates the journey of the Israelites through the wilderness. Thank you to the students from Bais Yaakov school for coming and decorating our sukkah in preparation for the holiday!

Breast cancer can be a significant health concern for seniors, as the risk of developing breast cancer increases with age. It is critical for older adults to get informed about breast cancer and take proactive steps to prevent and detect it early.
