The Pure Wellness Studio is a safe space where I can help clients learn about their bodies, heal and feel supported across their entire lifespan. I offer Pelvic Floor PT services to females and male for pelvic pain, bowel, bladder and sexual dysfunction. This space includes specialized yoga classes for prenatal, post-partum, yin yoga and gentle flow. I will also be offering educational workshops on the Menstrual Cycle, Healthy Lifestyles, Prenatal, Post Partum and Menopause transitions.

High cortisol levels play a part in so many functions, especially sleep. One of the biggest culprits might be your exposure to artificial light. This disrupts your body's natural cortisol and melatonin levels, leading to poor sleep quality. To combat this, dim the lights as the sun goes down, limit screen time (especially at night!), or try using blue ray blocking glasses. Prioritize good sleep!! 💤

Cortisol is important in times of stress, and can actually help protect your body. However, there are many day-to-day stressors that may lead to constantly high levels of cortisol. 😮

🏃Cortisol and anxiety are the underlying culprits of the term hangry. 😡

One of the easiest ways to shift out of flight or fight mode is by making your body feel safe. Knowing when you are getting your next meal, by eating consistently and routinely with maintain blood sugar levels naturally without having to rely on a cortisol peak to do this.

Start your day by eating within 30 minutes of waking and continue to fuel your body throughout the day. 🍽️

Just typing this made me feel guilty for participating in information overload. 😮

This was something I recently learned that truly shocked me. I knew that there was a lot of information out there, but I never truly thought about how much we are taking in. Between email, podcasts, texts, social media etc - it is a lot! Having all of this access to information is wonderful, but it also overwhelms our nervous system.

Answer these questions and prioritize what (and how much) you are taking in to avoid overload!!

🌍Today's world feeds into chronic stress and chronically high cortisol levels. It is perfectly normal (and super important!) to have increased cortisol levels during periods of stress, but it is not normal (or healthy!!) to have chronically high cortisol levels. 😮

Knowing some of our lifestyle choices that feed into this, can help you balance your levels, body and possibly even eliminate other symptoms (digestion, bloating, fatigue, etc). 🥗

Our lives are so fast-paced that we often don't realize how much we're juggling. Our daily routines and habits can often lead to stress, which in turn affects our cortisol levels. 🔋

This is always one of my favorite fun facts about the pelvic floor. It is also why it is so important to be upright and to do pelvic floor strengthening in different positions (standing!!). 💪

And don't overlook the benefits of walking on digestion and constipation. A quick 10 minute walk after dinner is enough to be helpful! 🍽️🚶‍♀️
