This week’s feature: cellular rejuvenation has moved from hypothesis to clinical trial. The science is real. The marketing is the problem. Plus nine more research summaries: GLP-1 inflammation, AI-driven Alzheimer’s prediction, the biochemistry of fiber, sweeteners and cognitive decline, two studies on dreaming. Two free every week. Nine studies written over four years in my notes. None of the original papers cited each other. They describe an organ that trains your entire adaptive immune system, starts closing at puberty, was associated with nearly triple 5-year mortality when removed, shows signs of regrowth under specific conditions, and now predicts whether immunotherapy will save your life. New essay. Link in bio.

Those hands know something most clinicians don’t discuss yet.

A study published this week in _Nature_ traced memory loss (in preclinical models) not to the brain, but to a specific gut bacterium that becomes more abundant with age. It produces a molecule that travels up the vagus nerve into the hippocampus, where memories form.

Remove the bacterium. Stimulate the vagus nerve. Cognitive function recovers.

The gut may been running a process we assumed belonged solely to the brain.

This week’s newsletter covers that finding, what one common antibiotic does to the system responsible, and eight more studies worth your time.

The Second Brain Was First. Link in bio.

I spent ten years writing songs I couldn’t play.
The lyrics were done. The emotions were real. But I couldn’t get the music out of my head and into the world.
changed that — not by making the music for me, but by showing me what my own songs sounded like. That demo became my teacher. Now I’m learning to play them myself.
Suno featured the essay about this process on their channels. I also released this song publicly for the first time: “Never Mine to Keep.”

For a decade, I wrote lyrics as emotional containers. They felt complete on the page, but something remained unfinished.

Then I discovered an AI music tool that let me hear what I’d been writing all along. The backwards path: lyrics → AI demo → learning to play my own songs.

Once the song is complete, I can finally put it aside. The chapters are closed.

New essay on music, emotional processing, and the unexpected way AI became my teacher. Link in bio.
