Raising Expectations for the Treatment of Children with - 𝗔 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆​

Children with ASD have amazing potential! The majority of children can become conversational, achieve success in school, develop meaningful friendships and most importantly, experience a high quality of life! However, achieving this requires high quality intervention with highly trained staff.​

The Autism Partnership Foundation proudly introduces today’s “Speaker Spotlight”, Dr. Thomas Zane.
Dr. Thomas Zane is the Director of Online Behavior Analysis programs in the Department of Applied Behavioral Science at the University of Kansas, and the Clinical Director of The Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf in Beverly, Massachusetts. Dr. Zane earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in psychology at Western Michigan University and his doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis at West Virginia University. He has served as a Post-Doctorate Research Associate at the University of Massachusetts, Professor at Mount Holyoke College, and Johns Hopkins University Department of Psychiatry, and Program Director of Behavior Analysis and Special Education at Endicott College. He is a licensed psychologist in New York and Massachusetts.

Dr. Zane serves on the Executive Board of the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies, the international organization that represents the field of behavior analysis. He is also a member of the Scientific Council of the Organization of Autism Research, a group that raises money to fund innovative research in Autism Spectrum Disorders. For the past three years, Dr. Zane has been the President of the Ethics Special Interest Group of the International Association for Behavior Analysis. Dr. Zane has published in various journals and books, presented at regional, national, and international conferences. His research interests include teacher training, staff development, evidenced-based practice in autism, and the philosophy of science and radical behaviorism.

Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, the multi-national transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, will be a special guest speaker at the Autism Partnership Foundation’s fourth annual conference.

The conference will take place on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Cottonwood Church in Los Alamitos, California.
Titled, “Preserving Quality ABA and the Effective Implementation of Autism Treatment,” the event will gather distinguished experts in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for a day of education, discussion, and reflection. Attendees will include behavior analysts, educators, psychologists, speech language pathologists, parents of children with ASD, and anyone dedicated to ensuring children with ASD have access to quality treatment.

Dara Khosrowshahi, and his wife, Sydney Shapiro, are parents of two children with ASD. They are passionate about the mission of Autism Partnership Foundation, which works to expand the understanding of effective and empirically supported treatment of ASD through innovative research, improved quality of services, and increased availability of effective treatment.
