Hands to Comfort and a Heart to Serve

Hello! I’m Jessica McGilvray, Birth Doula and Founder of Hands and Heart Doula and Birth Services. I am passionate about birth and about empowering women to make evidence based and informed choices for themselves and their babies throughout the child bearing year. I believe that all women should have a peaceful, beautiful brith experience and should have the right to choose that experience, whether that means natural childbirth, having an epidural or other medical interventions, or having a cesarian section. It is my goal to support women in their pregnancies, labors, and post partum period informationally, emotionally, and physically to help them achieve their birth goals and to have a peaceful, empowering experience however their birth unfolds.

I am a certified Birth and Bereavement Doula through StillBirthday, a Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Doula and currently completing Birth Doula and Breastfeeding Counselor certifications through Childbirth International and am continually pursuing research and training workshops and opportunities to further my knowledge and skills as a professional Labor Doula. I am also an active volunteer with the Nashville Volunteer Doula Program and the Nashville Breastfeeding Coalition.

I am the homeschooling mother of 3 daughters, wife to a wonderful husband and kitty mom to one spoiled house cat. When I am not working or homeschooling, I can be found curled up with a cup of tea and a good book or creating in my sewing room.
