Meet Dr. Roy Parsons - our newest PT and first addition to the clinical team! 💪

Dr. Roy has been Dr. Stephanie's mentee, colleague, collaborator in personal training, and friend since before RISE even existed. Now he has officially joined our mission to be Seattle's premier solution for chronic pain resolution and helping active adults become their healthiest, pain-free selves.

From earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy at University of New England and Biology degree from UC Santa Cruz, Dr. Roy brings the perfect blend of a passion for clinical knowledge and empathy from his lived experience. When he's not transforming lives in the clinic, you'll find him crushing CrossFit WODs, conquering hiking trails, or backpacking through the PNW - because he LIVES the active lifestyle he helps you return to.

Dr. Roy's superpowers?
Taking lifters, fitness athletes, and anyone battling chronic pain to their next level. He specializes in helping clients who refuse to settle - those who value performance, longevity, and feeling completely at home in their bodies. Join and for a running workshop after the Saturday community run! Physical therapists from RISE will lead us through 30 minutes of drills to improve mobility, strength, and running specific technique targeted at increasing your mileage without injury!

This is NWFP’s last community run of the season, led by Executive Trainer !

Happy Freedom Day! 🌺 As we Celebrate Juneteenth, we lean in to the progress of freedom and equality that began with the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. Though this progress has been slow and wrought with pain, we join as allies alongside our friends and communities of color, in joyful festivities to focus on the change that has been made even in the past few decades, and the change that is to come.

The imagery of the Pan-African Flag represents unifying solidarity and liberation for all peoples of African Descent and the African Diaspora, as the blooming Hibiscus evokes remembrance of the countless seeds carried to America by the hands of enslaved African's during the transatlantic crossing, cultivated throug generations and generations.

We love getting people of all ages running for the wonderful health benefits, but also the social opportunity. Building healthy relationships and being in community is the strongest predictor of longevity! 💪

Many of our clients at RISE think there isn’t much they can do about their sleep. Maybe they’ve tried going to bed earlier, counting sheep, or had a sleep study to indicate they aren’t getting enough REM or deep sleep. But there’s actually a LOT we can do in our waking hours to improve how our brain transitions to sleep to fall asleep faster and to stay asleep! 💤

One behavior we can change is creating a specific bedtime routine that has the same order of tasks (showering, brushing teeth, shutting lights off, etc) and starts around the same time each night. Our brain is wired to be efficient. So once we build a CONSISTENT routine our brain will begin to recognize these patterns and release melatonin and serotonin at more appropriate times to aide in our sleep quality.
