The Kids Clinic is a pediatric clinic blending traditional western medicine, naturopathic, and functional medicine, treating each child holistically. Dr. Carol Doroshow MD FAAP, a board certified pediatrician blends traditional western medicine, nutrition and naturopathic medicine to

promote health and vitality for each child. In addition, Dr. Doroshow practices botanical medicine, homeopathy, functional medicine and nutrigenomics. Average routine appointments are 30 minutes with specialty consultations of up to 60 minutes. Dr. Doroshow has a special interest in children with ADD/ADHD, encopresis, autoimmune disorders and gastrointestinal issues. The Kids Clinic is proud to be affiliated with Seattle Children's Hospital and Swedish Hospital to offer you and your child a spectrum of seamless medical care and valuable resources. The Kids Clinic encourages all parents to vaccinate their children and themselves to enhance community health, however, we support families that request alternative vaccine schedules.

📢 COVID-19 BOOSTER UPDATE 📢

As of this week, a formal recommendation has been made by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices for patients age 12 and up to receive a booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine 5 months after dose #2.

The Kids Clinic is scheduling COVID-19 vaccine appointments on Wednesdays for established patients. We are also still offering virtual appointments for discussing the vaccine if you have questions or concerns. To schedule, you can call the office or send us a message through PortalConnect.

🩺 Puberty can start between age 8-13. Those pre-teen to teen visits are important for us to monitor that puberty is starting and progressing.

🩺 We screen for safety and mental health concerns formally, at certain ages, and informally, when we listen to a child or adolescent talk about their life.

🩺 Sports participation isn't just about the forms! Based on which activities a child participates in, we evaluate for certain injuries and discuss safety measures.

First periods can feel stressful! What preparations have you found helpful? Are there any that you wish you had done?

Here are some tips from Dr. Kelly for when you notice puberty beginning for your child:

🗣 Ensure there is no language in the home about being grossed out by or not wanting to hear about menstruation.

📍 Stock your home with beginner-friendly menstrual products, like pads and liners, and show everyone where they are.

🩲 Have a practice run! Let them learn how to open, place, and discard a pad before the day they need it.

🎒 Keep a period kit accessible. Lockers and backpacks are great places for them at school. Remember that grandparents, friends, etc. may not have supplies at their homes.
