Amazing Update From Chelsey on Saturday:

I have tears in my eyes, this time from joy instead of sorrow. We are going home today!!!! We have to come back every week for labs and appointments but, for the first time in about seven weeks we are going home!!!!! Thank you so much for all of your love, prayers, and support. We couldn’t have gotten here without them! I personally can not wait to snuggle all three of my kiddos at once, it’s been too long.

1/18 Another good day. Today our little love had his picc removed. Which means he is not hooked up to anything. Tomorrow he will transition to oral everything! The good news doesn’t stop there….. if he tolerates the oral lasix and continues to respond well to it then we can go home soon. His team is so happy with all of the progress he is making. Way to go Lincoln love!!!

Thank you all for everything! The outgoing love and support has been so overwhelming. We are so blessed to have such an amazing, loving village standing with us. We truly love you all!

Also, we still have bracelets if you would like some, please let myself or Sara McCullough know.

1/17-We got some news today. His ultrasound looked great. The last surgery worked and the fistula has resolved. He was taken off all of the monitors because he’s doing so much better. He was able to go back on oral antibiotics and was able to quit the transfusion he was getting.
He also was taken off the heparin drip and put onto an oral baby aspirin (no shots ). His blood work was also looking much better.
He’s currently down to 6.4kg (he was up to 7.9kg after surgery) once he’s back to 6.2kg he can switch to oral lasix. His belly is so much smaller, the swelling has gone away from everywhere else as well.
Last but, far from least his fever has stayed away. Also, he’s been so happy today. I feel like he’s truly just feeling better.
Please pray that we can keep moving in this direction. We’re so happy for our little warrior.

From Chelsey: Tomorrow is another big day for us. We have a large round of blood work/labs in the morning followed by an ultrasound. We need these to go well. Please pray for that win. Lincoln stayed fever free all day and had no more respiratory issues. We ran one more test today and if that goes well he will switch to oral antibiotics. Also, they tried something new with his lasix today and it really seemed to help. He is almost to his pre-op weight. He also held off on Tylenol for a couple hours today and during that time he remained fever free and seemed to be pain free as well.
Thank you so much for loving our little guy and rooting for him. We appreciate it. 💚

Update since Wednesday night. Lincoln got out of the ICU Thursday night. He had a couple fairly uneventful days. He did however develop a hernia that will require a surgery down the road. He got to take a modified bath yesterday that he loved💚 Unfortunately last night he spiked a high fever which had everyone scrambling. They were able to get his fever under control but waiting on tests to see what’s going on. They believe he has a form of pneumonia caused by the surgery. Lincoln, his mama and his daddy can use all the prayers to keep him on the upward path to healing. There’s been a lot of one step forward, two steps back. Please send all the love today and prayers that his fever stays down and his little body keeps fighting the big fight. We all love you Lincoln 💚💚💚

From Chelsey-
Our morning took a turn in the wrong direction. Lincoln started running a fever this morning. His heart rate has been high, and he just hasn’t been himself. We’re still in the ICU while they continue to figure out what’s causing the fever. He also has a lot of edema today. His eyes were swollen shut earlier. They ran a virus panel (including Covid) and those came back negative. They checked him for a bladder infection, also negative. We’re waiting on X-ray to show up, and they are pulling more blood.
He has perked up a tiny bit. He’s ate really well a couple of times, and they just took him off oxygen. We’re hoping they can figure this out quickly and get us back on the road to healing. 💚

From Chelsey 1/12-Morning:

Morning update: we’re still in the ICU. Lincoln has had a much harder time this go around. He’s needed some extra oxygen, has had some problems regulating his temperature, and pain has been a problem too. We’re working in the right direction though. He’s scheduled for an ultrasound any minute now, after that they plan on pulling the oxygen and his catheter out. We’ve been able to snuggle for the past few hours and I think that’s helped us both. Oh, and, they drew blood from his new picc line this morning. That is definitely a blessing, he slept right through it. 💚

From Chelsey- 1/11 Evening:

We just got to ICU, good news is they got the fistula and Dr. Reise believes there is a 80% - 90% chance that he could live with this liver with no problem. Bad news is the clot is still there. They have decided to wait to treat it because of everything he's endured. They feel it is safer to “table” that for now. His breathing also dipped at the end. They hope it's just from the tube shifting as he was fine the rest of the time. He will be sedated and on the vent for 6 hours and then they’ll try to wean him off. Please keep those prayers and well wishes coming. He’s already had another issue on the vent.

From Chelsey Tuesday 1/11:

Well, Lincoln is officially back in the OR. It’s sad when we now know the surgical nurses by name and they know us. Ok, so right before we got called to take Lincoln back, Dr. Healy came by to chat with us. He even drew us pictures. He explained the importance of getting it done right away. Long story short, the fistula is getting worse since it wasn’t coiled all the way last time. It’s causing fluid to fill up faster, which is even putting pressure on his lungs. The fistula messes with the blood flow inside the liver and the overall health of the liver. He said that it needs to get done because Lincoln responded better to the Kasai than most. His labs in the beginning were so great. He hopes in getting all of it we can save this liver for quite some time. He truly wants to give Lincoln's body a break and is hoping this will be the last thing for him.
He said he will be present in the room and encourage them to get it all. By encourage I think he means force.
This morning we were informed that yesterdays ultrasound revealed a blood clot in his leg. This is from the last surgery. They are discussing what plan will be best when it comes to the blood clot, Dr. Healy doesn't seem to think it's a bad one. He believes it should just clear up. Especially since he will need to be on heparin after the surgery anyway. Hematology met with us and said he may need to start injections after surgery. That's still in the air.
Dr. Reise, the one who did the embolization last time, came in on his day off to do it again today. He wanted to see it through which makes us feel a lot better since he's obviously familiar with what's going on. Like last time we will go up to ICU afterwards and he will remain sedated and on the vent.
He really does have an amazing team looking out for him and we are trying to take peace knowing that. My arms definitely ache right now, and we can't wait until he's back with us. Please continue to pray that all goes well today. 💚

From Chelsey: This morning started off with hope of going home today. We got our labs done, those were looking better. Not perfect but, getting better everyday. Then went to ultrasound…. This is where things take a turn. We’re not going home today, Lincoln is going back in for another surgery tomorrow. My heart feels shattered. This will be his fifth surgery in almost six weeks. They are hoping to go back in and finish with the embolism. Risk will be higher since they are going in again so soon. That’s all I can say right now. Please pray. https://gofund.me/302ddf74
